How jarring is it to hear them talking about Yastrzemski in the outfield? For some of us old farts, the effect is like Proust’s madeleines.

I love it. Continuity is the essence of the poeticism of humanity. Such as it is.

Thursday will be interesting. The crowd on Saturday was nervous and the Dodgers took them out of it. Friday was a much more raucous crowd and the Giants seemed to feed off of the energy. I hope they just go crazy. Its a do or die game but you may get a lot of casual fans who are there because the Giants are a thing right now.

The first run will be huge. The Friday crowd was raucous because Posey homered in the first inning. On Saturday the Dodgers jumped out to a lead in the 2nd and the Giants never caught up.

For those of you that caught the post-game show, I love Pedro with all my heart, but his prediction that Game 5 was going to be a pitcher's duel seem circular.

I do love the fact, though, that you've got two stellar young pitchers starting the game.

It is going to be must see TV, but Pedro basically guaranteed it for no other reason than that he said so. Now, the caveat to this is I fell asleep during the game and woke up while he was talking so he may very well have opened with stats and analytics, but it wasn't what he ended with.

where I was last at
But did I get it right? Or did he say more than what I saw. What I saw gave me the vibe of an old WWF promo.
I was half asleep, but it was in his "Who's My Daddy" bit and Dusty was his daddy, and Pedro is apparently is close to the guy, which is cool, and said he hoped Dusty gets to the World Series. But as I assume he knows that path runs through us.

I cried myself to sleep.

This made me laugh. I think that's exactly where I woke up. "Who's Your Daddy" must be a shared trigger.

Dodgers are starting Knebel. Giants shouldn't blink and keep their lineup the same as if Urias is starting.
That's pretty clever if Urias is going to come in after him. Unless Knebel gets lit up and it blows up in their face.

Edit: People speculating that Knebel will be pinch hit for when his spot in the lineup comes. And that's when Urias will come in.

I hope the Giants aren't trying to over-think their lineup based off the Knebel ploy. They'll be facing Urias soon enough anyway

The ol' Fake Starter trick. Roberts has done this before:
https://baseballcloud.blog/2020/11/06/the-move-that-cost-the-yankees-the-world-series/

The most famous case worked out better in 1924, with Curly Ogden starting for the Washington Senators but only facing two batters:
http://www.captainsblog.info/2010/10/29/the-curious-case-of-curly-ogden-or-how-bucky-harris-tricked-john-mcgraw-in-the-1924-world-series/3476/
Stubby Clapp (mentioned in another thread) is an impressive name, but can he compare with a team using Curly Ogden, Bucky Harris, and Firpo Marberry in the same game?
(Someone just posted film of highlights from this game in another thread, but I don't remember which one.)
