The entry draft is coming up on Friday.

B's pick 21, 85, 117, 149, 181, 213, 217

Our 2nd round pick was traded to Buffalo in the Taylor Hall deal. The extra 7th (217) came from Toronto in a draft pick swap last year.

I haven't read up on the prospects yet, so not really sure where they go yet. 21 is the highest they've picked since 2017 when they took Vaakanainen at 17. In the 6 drafts since Sweeney took over, they've taking a D with their first pick 5 times (Zboril, McAvoy,. Vaakanainen, Andersson, Lohrei). John Beecher is the lone exception. Whether by design or it's just how the board fell, they have not taken a CHL player since the 2017 draft. Last year they took 4 players, all with ties to the USHL.

I was excited to see that a Hingham kid, Matty Beniers, is expected to go maybe as high as #2. Great kid and the second Hingham kid in a couple of years to go in the first round, after Jay O’Brien.

It’s a weird draft because most of these kids barely played and it makes the draft media guys lack consensus. I’m expecting the best player in this draft so be some dude no one saw coming last year. Maybe Coronado but more likely some ohl kid who had no season and gets picked in the second.

I have no favorites. Hope they do well as it’s really important that they nail this pick. Odds against them.

OT: It’s a fricking shame Tony A isn’t immortalized on Yonge St. only in the US version. He did so much for the sport and basically put Hingham on the map for hockey.

Beniers, Owen Power, Kent Johnson, and incoming Freshman Luke Hughes from Univ. of Michigan are all considered top 10 picks, with Power and Beniers possibly going top 3. That's bonkers, and due to COVID there's a real possibility that all will actually play in Ann Arbor next year.

Hopefully that doesn’t mean that John Beecher gets 3rd-4th line minutes.

My son played against Beniers a bunch in the EHF when he was on the South Shore Kings and then the summer Town Cup tourneys. Always an incredible talent from mites on up.

Mostly good teams on the bottom. I guess that makes sense because they usually pick later
They also trade more picks. The Bruins haven’t gone through a significant down period over the last decade, do they’ve constantly swapped picks for playoff runs.

If there’s one thing that I can assume from watching the kids react to getting drafted in their parents living rooms, it’s that high annual income of parents correlates to having an elite hockey prospect for a child.

3 of the first 5 picks are Michigan Wolverines. That probably has never happened before in NHL history.

Between here and everywhere.
Lysell is falling and some thought he could go top 10.

I'd like to see the Bruins take a swing at him.

Othmann is another guy who (if he falls) would look good in Black and Gold.

Between here and everywhere.
I don’t know anything about him. What are his issues?
He's a defensively solid center with ok offensive instincts.

Here's his write up:

Another player that could be selected higher than this spot, Svechkov continued to impress more and more all season, capped off with his strong Under-18s performance. This seems like another easy fit, with the Bruins’ attraction to defensive-minded forwards and Svechkov as one of the best in this class. The pivot has excellent defensive awareness but can also show up big in the offensive end. Svechkov is a candidate to shoot up into the top-15 on draft day.
