Hawks just can't shoot sometimes. Sixers with a tough win. Defense was there when needed.

Not that he has much to do with the outcome, but Scott "The Evener" Foster again.

Somehow that game reminded me of Sixers-Celtics playoffs in early 1980s. Physical, defense body to body, baskets hard to come by in fourth quarter. The Hawks have a lot of heart but Trae doesn’t get much help. I don’t know what to say about Philly. They can play defense. But without Maxey, they get blown out tonight.

Maxey was huge.

It was definitely good old school Eastern Conference playoff ball.

Restricted area is for drives, not when you get the ball on a rebound or deep in the post.

Embiid pretty clearly threw his elbow out to get contact, I thought it was an easy offensive foul call.
Apparently not that easy, since Doc challenged it? On the other hand, they took a good look and upheld it. Just seems like an odd rule to me — feel like if you get an offensive rebound under the rim, you should be able to go up strong and score it, as long as you're not obviously warding off (which he was not, imo).

Anyway, that play aside, I generally liked the laissez-faire reffing in this one on both ends. It's the playoffs — would much rather see them beat each other up a bit than parade to the FT line all game.

Two game sevens on tap...

Paul George just drew the most fucking bogus 3-shot foul of all time lol. That was either on the floor and 2 shots, OR foot over the 3-pt line and 2 shots on the shot itself.

Not sure Doc should be considered a good judge :)

It looked to me like Embiid was more than just going up strong... he leaned in and purposely tried to make contact. He could have just gone straight up and scored easily.

Either way, my main point is that the restricted area rule doesn't apply in that situation.

They had a foul to give, so it shouldn't even have been two shots. Gifting a guy three FTs (the most efficient possible offensive possession) on a play where he wasn't even attempting a real shot is so infuriating. I hope they take a long look at that in the offseason.

Hilarious that they didn't even bother to run Javie out there to defend that call. Just passed along his BS second-hand.
