I, for one, always liked Reggie Jackson (because I saw him light the Celtics up one time when he played for OKC).

I have a take:
Ty Lue is not merely better than Doc, he is way better.
Lue is fascinating. In the regular season everything is a mess, but come playoffs he makes so many good adjustments. Wonder if he'll be a guy who has a short shelf-life at each stop.

I feel he does a lot of the doc, cater to stars in the regular season but he uses that to feel a bunch of different things out. Love Lue, and PG. Good on them for delaying the inevitable.

Celtics should have hired Lue instead of Stevens 8 years ago.
Not sure I agree. Lue and Doc seem like motivator types, think Stevens was good for rebuilding after tear down. Similar situation happened to the Nets guy.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, embrace this Clippers squad. George has been amazing on both ends and the entire group of others: Jackson, Mook, Mann, Zubac, Batum and especially Beverley have fought pretty hard. If but for the Crowder dime, they could be looking at a closeout game. As it is, they have a shot to extend it at home and you have to like their chances.

But for the Crowder dime and the non-review of an out-of-bounds play with 8 seconds left in Game 4 (ball was technically off Payne) the Clippers could be in the Finals right now.

Oh i have. I just dont show it in these rando posts here. After the first 2 dallas games, where they clearly were coasting, theyve bit down and made actual clippers fans proud af.

I'm just heartbroken and bitter of how close they'll get without Kawhi because this could've been the year they won it.

Could still easily be the year! Just six more wins to go, with no particularly bulletproof teams in your way.

Everything is a roll of the dice, but if push comes to shove I'd make the Clippers (slight, slight, slight) favorites right now. Per comments above, Ty Lue really deserves a ton of credit. He's had a touch of the curse of coaching LeBron -- i.e, he got no credit -- but to me he's as good as it gets as an NBA coach. If the Clippers win without Kawhi, he'll get his due...as will Paul George. The praise for George is apt, but he's also had some really bad moments at key points, so not sure I have full faith in him.

The question for the Suns has to be about CP3. He's really slowing them down offensively and I don't see blaming the shoulder for that. As great as he is, I wonder if he's playing with the weight on his shoulder of all his prior failed playoff runs. They need a great game 6 or game 7 from him if they're to pull this series off.

Eh, the Clippers have played really hard but are a game away from being eliminated. I think Phoenix finishes them off pretty soon, Paul can't be this bad for the rest of the series, and even if he is they can still beat the Clippers if Morris/Jackson each have off-games.

To get them as favorites you think they are about 71% to win each game. That seems....high.

It would be so funny if the Hawks pulled this one out. Lou Williams will never pay for wings in Atlanta again.

I think Giannis needs to act like Durant and get 2 other like-minded superstars around him. He doesn't have the right mind to carry a team himself.

Love listening the the Hawks crowd when Giannis is at the line. Already two air balls from him.
Have to expect the Bucks will shoot better in the 2nd half. Hawks will need to be able to counter their run.

Just tuned in. How the hell are the Hawks winning with all the injuries?

Edit : Oh shit, Giannis got injured. Hope he is okay.

I thought he blew up his knee. Walking to the back unassisted, very gingerly, but that’s a good sign

Hyperextension injuries CAN look worse than they actually are. Sometimes you just get bone bruises +/- low grade ACL sprain. It's not the classic mechanism for most ACL tears.

Having said that, if the hypertension is bad enough (and that one looked pretty bad) you can definitely also tear your ACL.

Hope for good preliminary news with "optimism" from the medical staff (i.e stable knee exam). I'm sure he will get an MRI tonight or first thing tomorrow morning. Could go either way.

Edit: I also didn't see enough replays to see if there was much inward or outward torque, as certainly can also have MCL or LCL injuries depending on the specifics.
