But at least NY (badly) needs a SS, BOS would have to move one or both of X and Devers to new positions if they signed Correa. Combine that with the massive price tag and X’s ability to walk next winter and you can see how I arrived at my statement above. You don’t have to agree, but that’s what I think.

I love it. Can't wait to see the logos and uniforms.
I'm all in, I think the logo is the perfect mix of ridiculous and seriousness (though to be fair, I also own and wear a Montgomery Biscuits hat)

It is a great shirt, but it needs a baseball or a bat or something to make it identifiable as something associated with a team.

Yeah, they could put a baseball moon behind him, or turn the little star/planet dots that are reflected in the mask into baseballs. Or maybe just baseball stitching on the hat.

Full disclosure I rock a Trash Pandas hat (black with the interlocking RC rocket logo) as my default non Sox hat

Gerald Williams passed away from cancer.

Sox fans most likely remember this:

I was assuming sarcasm, but yeah, pitchers not hitting anymore is a good development. Of course, considering half of the things Manfred said to seem to have been debunked, I'll believe it when I see it.
The two a year? And pitchers can still hit if the managers want.

Haha if so my bad on misreading. Manfred still sucks though!

Manfred announced the universal DH will be in effect when games are next played.

Goodbye awesome pitchers hitting highlights.
Looks like Babe Ruth's home run records by a pitcher are safe.

Edited for lack of effort before posting. Ruth Only had 14 as a pitcher. Wes Ferrell hit 37 while former Sox pitchers Gary Peters and Rick Wise both had 15.

What the hell? Did the Braves actually have a Native American as a bat boy? 1:25.
Actually played by a Native American towards the end of the mascot’s life, Levi Walker who actually vehemently defended the mascot, but yeah, goes back to their days in Milwaukee; existed from 1966-1985. Name was awful: Chief Noc-A-Homa, with his short lived female counterpart from 1983: Princess Win-A-Lotta.

That's incredible (and also a great reminder of the fact that it wasn't that long ago that reasonable business people thought that that was not only acceptable but a good idea)

Small sample size for sure but Ohtani has hit .214/.323/.464 with 3 HR as a pitcher.

.890 OPS with 88 HR as a DH and 2 pinch hit HR.

All I know is that two of the most fun moments from last year's season involved Red Sox pitchers getting a hit (and then being immediately terrible on the mound after having to run the bases), so it'll be a shame to lose that during interleague play. I wonder if the bunt will soon become a rarely seen relic of the past.

It should. It has always been greatly overused as it is.

League average in the AL was 15 per team and in the NL it was 36. I assume the AL team in NL parks and NL teams in AL parks mostly cancel out as far as having pitchers bunt. The best guess going forward is that all teams will average about one bunt every 10 games. If you cut out moving over the Manfred Man in extra innings, it's probably even rarer.

Considering the drag bunt and safety squeeze have disappeared from the game, it's probably inevitable that it goes the way of the screwball.

Edit: "Manfred Man" is awesome. Not sure how old that is, but if I haven't seen it (which I hadn't), it's new to me!

I actually think bunting and stealing will find it’s way back as catchers lose the ability to gun down would-be stealers and infield corner defenders get more lumbering.
A Tampa or Oakland team will start aggressive base running and pressuring pitchers into mistakes with a team of underpaid small speedy guys and make a deep playoff run.

So if the 24 man roster has five unvaxxed players, will teams be able to replace those players for when they play in Toronto.

Teams could be really short handed.
26 man roster, possibly bigger to start the season (this is as yet unclear), and the protocol to replace players or not is also unclear. They need to figure out a lot of stuff very quickly, that's what happens when you spend most of the winter on pause as a sport.
