Lol, the Bulls have had some insane luck this year. DeRozan (by his own post-game admission) forgetting how much clock was left and sinking a desperation 3, and shooting 38% from 3 on the year (he's a 28% shooter on 1300 career attempts).

The Land of Fist Pumps
Saddiq Bey with the game winning 3 in OT in a 1 point win over the Spurs. Was 1 for 11 from 3 before the game winner.

Pistons dominated the boards. 17 rebounds for Bey, 14 for Diallo (who played 50 minutes and took 32 shots) and 14 for Luka Garza(!).

One of the most under appreciated moments of this NBA season is Coby White’s fondness for teammates arm pits.

Nets acting like the Celtics. Up 13 in the 4th the Clippers go on a 26-10 run. Nets have 7.5 to make a 3 and tie it up.
This was a bad bad loss for the Nets. The clippers were in the second night of a back to back and had more than $121 million on the sidelines.

Yikes. Cross Christian Wood off anybody's wish list. KPJ has already been tossed out of one place.

Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. left the stadium during halftime of Saturday night's home game against the Denver Nuggets after a heated exchange in the locker room with Houston assistant coach John Lucas, sources tell The Athletic. The Rockets went on to lose 124-111.

Sources said Lucas called out multiple players, including Porter and Christian Wood — who was benched after missing a mandatory COVID-19 testing window — during halftime, focusing on Porter’s play and Wood's effort level. As things escalated, Porter threw an object, needed to be separated from Lucas and then got in his car and left the arena. Wood refused to sub into the game in the second half, sources added.

Houston trailed Denver 77-55 at half after allowing 47 points in the second quarter. Porter had eight points and three assists in 16 minutes.

Wood played eight minutes during the first half, going scoreless on 0-for-4 shooting. Wood was late to pregame warmups and came off the bench to start the game, but he informed coaches at halftime that he had no desire to play in the second half, sources said.

Wood was such a good story, but seems like a guy who never tried until he washed out of the league, and now that he got paid he's backsliding.

I posted about Wood going full blown Hassan Whiteside a month or two ago. Doesn’t seem to be changing any by the sound of things.

Yep, you did. Get paid and then coast happens. John Lucas does like to preach and he may be a tad overbearing for young players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Heat or Warriors buy low, put Wood in their sink/swim system w/respected vets, & get the most out of him.

Except neither team has the cap space. Where else could Houston lay Wood off? Utah?

Houston shouldn't really want players like that around other young players.

Porter Jr has always been a sell IMO

Chicago is 1st in the East. Crazy.

Coby White's last 3 games: 35.5 minutes, .513/.542/.727, 20.3 points, 7.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 1. 3 steals, 1.3 TO.
Last 6: 32.8, .467/.477/.833, 17.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 1.5 TO.

Wish the C's had the pieces to get him. I don't see the Bulls wanting DS. They'd just as soon play Coby White.

Houston is such a mess it's easy to overlook Jalen Green's recent performance, though it's mostly just shooting.
Last 4: .481/.515/.870, 22.3 points, 2.3 assists, 1.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 17/33 from 3.
Last 8: .484/.434/.868, 18.3 points, 1.8 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 0.6 steals. 23/53 from 3.

At 30.6 mpg, .400/.331/.825, 15.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists for the year.

Houston is a remarkable 2-20 (having lost 19 of the last 20) when Green plays and 8-7 when he doesn't. I don't really belief it has anything to do with Green, but just really weird

I mean it probably does, he's very bad by NBA basketball player standards, and they're making him a focal point because they care a lot more about trying to develop him than winning, which makes some sense.

His net rating is horrific, worst on the worst team in the league.

I haven’t watched much Rockets lately but early on I did. Right now he’s a lower IQ Anthony Edwards and a rookie without a clue as to how to play the game. As you say, with one of the worst players in the league today being the focal point it likely has a lot to do with Wood’s motivation and others who are in a dysfunctional system. It makes perfect sense why the Rockets seemed to have more cohesion with a veteran like Eric Gordon holding the group together than the group standing around watching Green self destruct.

To me, this doesn’t mean a whole lot long term for Green as we’ve seen Edwards, we’ve seen LaVine be arguably the worst player in the league when he entered into it…..we’ve even seen our own Gerald Green turn into a rotation player once he matured and he didn’t even look like a good AAU player as a rookie. All these guys have the upside of the physicals and the athleticism to grow…..but yeah, it’s painful to see a guy like Green play on an NBA floor right now.

They had the 7 game winning streak. Green was part of the 1st game. After starting 6-0 without Green, they were 2-7 in the other 9 games without him. I wouldn't read much into it. They probably are worse with him playing, but they suck either way.

At least he's been hitting his shots of late.

For kicks I pulled this up quick. Lol.

Edit: This passes my eye test too. What makes him so bad isn’t that he’s off in the corner having little impact but rather that he’s ON the ball with a massive impact……and it isn’t a good one.

Unless there's something ugly we don't know about, Kevin Porter is probably done with the NBA for awhile too, right?

Can't see the Rockets keeping him. Maybe another cellar dweller takes a chance?

Rockets exercised his option for next year at $3.2M so I could see someone taking a shot on him. But it’s nuts that he can’t keep it together despite the tens of millions he’d eventually see if he could.

Mental illness doesn’t always respond to financial gain (see: Brown, Antonio) if this is Porter’s issue. If he’s simply dumb as a rock that doesn’t respond either. It’s easy for us to sit back and be fascinated by these young athletes decisions but they live in a different world and grew up (AAU era) playing the game of life at a different pace than we do.

The Morant-Bane backcourt is getting so good so fast it's a little scary. Currently putting an absolute beatdown on KD, Harden and co.

Gun to my head, give me Ja right now over Luka or Trae.

Sadly, “how would we fit Bane on the roster?” is looking more and more like the basketball version of “where would we play Willie McGee?”

I’m shaking too much to post it so would someone please find Morant’s dunk where he brings it back to like the foul line prior to the throw down? Thanks in advance.

My only fear with Ja is he is rough on his body. Not sure he can stay healthy.

If Ja continues to shoot 40% from three, it's almost a no brainer. It's very hard to imagine he will be able to keep up that pace; this was a guy who in the play-in games last year teams were daring him to shoot, to go from shooting 30% last year to 40% this year is insane.

In other news, the Pistons managed to actually beat Milwaukee (who was at full strength). 34 points from Saddiq Bey, and Cade with a strong game (19-4-7) in his return.

Morant made a leap in his 3-pt shooting in college and has always been a good FT shooter with solid mechanics. Raw percentages are overrated anyway……Morsnt’s been a good shooter. It all comes down to shot selection for him.

Steph goes 3-17 and the Warriors still beat the Heat 115-108 in SF. I'll leave the details to SRN and if this isn't a hint enough, that poster is looking more right as time goes on.

The most impressive thing about this team is their depth and versatility, even with the notable absences. They can pretty much match up with any team too, especially with reinforcements.

For the record, I too am on team Ja. Its kind of scary how good he already is even if his shooting regresses.

78 assists the last two games v. Utah and Miami.

Kerr somehow has them playing peak Kerrball, even on a night where Steph is bricking everything.

And yeah, Jordan Poole: 32 pts on 17 fga, 5 ast, 1 tov in 25 minutes. Outduels Herro (his old Wisconsin prep school rival) handily.

29-7, with Klay added to the mix in 6 days…

Wrong thread and all but this is going to be a good spot(s) to fade the Warriors with the systemic changes having Klay on board causes. I expect some losses out of them the next couple weeks with the first possibly being Sunday vs the Cavs.

Yeah, that’s probably fair. And I’d probably fade them some more when they start trying to integrate Wiseman into the mix. Minutes and shots have to come from somewhere, and the Warriors as it stands have been killer pretty much from top to bottom.

I think/hope they’ll iron on the kinks within a few weeks, tho. If anyone can fit easily on any team and add value without disrupting chemistry, it’s Klay.

This isn't the Warriors 1.0 where it was Steph and Klay carrying the scoring load. They are deep but everyone eats. Everyone.

I just looked at the team's individual single value metric which shall not be named and its staggering. No doubt that Curry's gravity impacts those numbers as much as the actual spacing but even if you simply look at the players shooting, its impressive how good they are across the roster.

This is random but the C's have six guys - lets say seven (rounding up to make Al average) and be generous who have played at least 100 minutes and are at league-average TS or better. The Warriors have 11 and they have all played at least 200 minutes.

Everyone eats.

Obviously, Warriors have both history/system and Steph. But the above illustrates why I'm focused on the lack of any offensive scheme for Celtics as a core problem---you need in today's COVID NBA to have a system/philosophy you teach which allows you to plug guys in without losing coherence. The Celtics have not had one in years---and it's a real issue. I can't assess how much is the coaching change, how much is Jays not buying in, talent, etc. but right along with another distributor to me it is a first-level need to fill.

Don't you expect Kerr to bring Klay along sloooowly? The dude is egoless & it's been 2.5yrs since he last played an NBA game.

The Warrior's on-ball defense is tight and on a complete string, so they can survive a bad shooting night from Steph. Their transition baskets off turnovers last night were absurd. Love their rotations and the way Kerr gives each player a defined role, Poole has turned into a nice backup microwave (good call by SRN)

It's tough to bet against the Warriors, but with everyone gushing over them you're probably right that they are reaching the overvalued (point spread wise) stage.

The bright side for me is that this finishes the KPJPG experiment. But if Steve Silas can’t reach him I can’t see many teams wanting to take a chance on him.

With all due respect, no one in the NBA is running anything that can be broken down by every head coach in the NBA (and most assistants) in no time flat. And it's not like Brad (just for example) forgot how to coach offense between the time IT4 was ruling the fourth quarter and the time JT became lead dog.

GSW's offense is so good primarily because Steph probably has more gravity than any other player in basketball history. I mean yeah there are people who demand double teams but not a lot of players demand double-teams 35 feet away from the basket plus are the object of the entire defense even when they don't have the ball. Add in an other-worldly passer, and that's just something teams can duplicate.

The Cs don't look like they have an offensive system because their two main ballhandlers don't do much else as of yet other than score. And even though they have gravity, their gravity doesn't open up the floor for other people. That doesn't mean that JB and JT can't grow into something more - and it's Ime's job to get them there - but at this point, when they have the ball, watch how every defender takes at least one step towards them That's why the Cs don't look like they have an offensive system.

Agreed. Hell, Kerr hasn't been able to duplicate it without Steph. His offenses without Steph have been fucking brutal.

Completely accurate.
