Sorry late to the party but curious how this turned out. Since you didn't post again, I'd hope that the guy fell into line?
It was ok. He basically focused on coaching his younger kids team and only really showed up to games to yell at refs. He was constantly pulling the mask down like a chin strap but we survived the season unscathed and covid free. Some of the surrounding towns (I'm north of Philly) were infinitely worse.....crowding, indoor snack bars open with no masks. One of them ended up having cases later in the season and it was as predictable as anything could be. It was totally worth it......we were full virual schools for most of the season so it was the only chance the kids had to really see friends and be somewhat normal.

@Humphrey - What's that in reference to?
The MIAA approved winter sports play with modifications (which aren't nearly as dramatic as the ones for soccer and field hockey). The start date is supposed to be December 14. This was last week when the case load was clearly going up. What would change in a week that they'd push everything back?

Glad to hear it worked out. Could have been a cluster.

Pennsylvania just announced this afternoon shutting down Saturday to Jan. 4 at 8 a.m. Friday is opening night for the high school winter sports season. Only exception is professional and college sports but they will not be permitted to have fans...Interestingly enough, the decision came a day after the high school federation announced it was full steam ahead for the winter sports season.

Surprisingly, CT Hockey starts back up today as originally scheduled back in December when the pause went in. Practices are allowed to start with games being allowed starting 2/1 as of now.

Apparently a coalition of some 30 rink owners came together to come up with a consistent set of rules to be used across the state to help hockey stay active. It's mostly good, and cleaves very closely to what our home rink was already doing so not a huge change for my org. There's a couple things worded oddly in such a way as to directly contradict the State level restrictions.

Very odd is that they're disabling all Livebarn for the next 2 weeks. Makes no sense to me if they really want to be strict with this stuff and enforce it, especially when they're only allowing a single spectator per player.

Even more odd, is that the number of people allowed on the ice has gone from 25 (+ coaches) to 86.

DPH has maintained their ban on the "Game On" style masks that attach to the cage of the helmets.

Strange on the Livebarn. I'm sure the reasoning is if someone is doing something wrong, they don't want someone to be able to pull it up on Livebarn and point it out. What our rinks have done is black out the benches and stands from the stream so no one can see anything going on off the ice.

Figured this might be the best place to include this. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) revised their guidance and is eliminating the high, medium, and low risk categories they had established for sports. My son is a lacrosse player and men’s lacrosse had been categorized as high risk which was putting the spring season in jeopardy. There are still no guarantees we’ll have a season, as the state also has to weigh in, but this was an important first step.

It puts Mass' decision to go ahead with a truncated football season in March and April in a much better light; even though there will not be very many vaccinations done by then on the participants.

The Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF), our league for club youth hockey, just announced no playoffs or games past 3/14 despite previously saying that the season would be extended. Lots of parents of course are up in arms about it. I take a more relaxed view that I’m shocked we’ve been able to get in almost all of our regular season games.

I feel for the RI and NH teams that basically had no season yet got no money back. The RI teams offered 10% of next year’s cost.
