Brees’ contract is exactly the same as Brady’s, why aren’t we hearing the same “is this his last game as a Saint” stuff that we’re getting non-stop about Brady?
Because Brees is still a top QB and there's no reason to think NO won't pay him?

Ha! I made reference to you and here you are.

Don’t think you’ll need it, but good luck.
If Seattle wasnt rolling out three backup OL (including missing the LT) I'd be a lot more confident. Only thing (besides RW being my QB) that gives me hope is Diggs is back at safety. The D plays a ton better when he is out there

It was a rhetorical question. But now that I think about it if I’m the Chargers or a similar team I think I’d rather throw a shitton of money at Brees rather than Brady for 2 years given their respective ages, and if I’m the Saints I actually might not match given how well the team seemed to perform under Bridgewater.
Are the Chargers moving into a dome? Because if they aren't, Brees isnj't putting up any better numbers than Rivers.

While we are disappointed with a 12-4, division title, wild card loss, the Saints, in three consecutive years in which they were legit SB contender, have:
  • Lost the divisional rd on one of the most improbable last play touchdowns you’ll ever see
  • Lost the NFCCG partly thanks to one of the worst no-calls in league history at home
  • Lost wild card in OT to Kirk Cousins at home
This is true. And no one knows if Brees has another year left. The fade should have been better covered but that long pass by Cousins when it seemed the Saints defense was holding its own was a back breaker. Watching this with my daughter, who was absolutely heartbroken.

BTW this has been a season for the ages in the NFC. Saints lost one game they shouldn't have to Atlanta, and had that epic showdown vs the Niners. That last play on Sunday night also shifted everything. The Vikings are one of the best #6 seeds I have seen in a while.

Really? One bad game in two decades against a good defense?
I mean I am talking about the top ten all time.
It not that it's a bad game it that he is now 8-8 in the playoffs and I have no idea why he should be considered an all-time great other than putting up great counting stats in a dome in a crazy passer friendly era.

Again not saying he is not good, just saying he should not be in the top 10 all-time conversations.

Oof. When you put it in that perspective.....

It is really hard to win the Super Bowl. Bottom line.
The greatest dynasty the sport has ever known has won it all just six time in a span of 19 years. So almost 70% of the time, the greatest team ever, on the greatest run ever, did NOT win the title.

That’s how frigging hard it is to win a Super Bowl. Never mind several.

Would take a lot of money for Brees to go back to the Chargers, IMO. Even though he would enjoy replacing Rivers after they basically dumped him to keep Rivers (and Miami famously dumped him in favor of Culpepper after they had him signed but balked at the physical).

BTW Brees is a major presence in New Orleans, that holds some weight, IMO.

I think the Saints sign him for at least two years, but I also think Teddy B will look for a starting job somewhere and do not think Taysom Hill is the answer at starting QB. They still have a lot of talent to dump their QB.

And, as bad as Brees was, he had the Saints in a position to win, had no hand in the two defensive gaffes in overtime, in the fact that the referee decided he was playing with 70's rules regarding DPI, or the fact that a LB for the Saints screwed up. Playoff football means that as good as the QB is, it's not easy to put up 40 something points. Same as playoff baseball when you are not facing the #5 starter or the random middle reliever.

Different sports, but it makes one really wonder about those Celtic and Yankee runs last century.
