Moved from the MLB thread:

The Twins have a seriously scary lineup now with the Donaldson signing (they did already) and have decidedly upgraded their D with JD and if Buxton can stay on the field. With 2019 wRC+ numbers:

1. Polanco SS — 119
2. Arraez 2B — 125
3. Cruz DH — 163
4. Donaldson 3B — 132
5. Kepler RF — 121
6. Sano 1B — 137
7. Garver C — 155
8. Rosario LF — 103
9. Buxton CF — 111

Plus Marwin Gonzalez on the bench.

The pitching is still full of question marks, Berrios, Odorizzi, Homer Bailey and two rookies as of now, until Pineda's suspension is up (late May, I think) and Rich Hill is back from surgery, but with the Donaldson addition, I think this team might now be better than the 101 win edition of 2019.

Mitch Garver smacking 31 homers, putting up 4 WAR and an OPS of .995 in half a season of play was one of the most surprising and under the radar developments of 2019.

The Twins will be good right up to the moment they play the Yankees in the playoffs. Then they'll get absolutely obliterated, like they always do. I know last year, Jon, you were talking like, hey past years have no bearing on this year, etc. And of course that's technically correct. Didn't matter. The Yankees absolutely destroyed them anyway. It's basically the only sure bet in sports that one could ever possibly have.

it's an insane development, and surprisingly (to me at least) it doesn't seem flukey or lucky. He was top 4% of the league in barrel% and top 3% in hard hit% and woba.
