Posting here because I had read earlier Bridgewater to the Bears. If one of these guys ends up in Chicago, Bridgewater either has a job in Tampa, NE, or as a backup somewhere

For those at work: Ed Werder says Source: #Bears are focused on acquiring Andy Dalton or Nick Foles - both veteran quarterbacks who have played for either Matt Nagy or members of coaching staff. There’s a sense in the organization that Mitchell Trubisky should be forced to compete for the starting position.

Bridgewater was looking for $20M+. Not sure how, with what we see now, the Pats make that happen. And I'd rather go with Stidham than pay Bridgewater $20-25M.

Completely agree. Bridgewater is going to end up as the odd man out in the game of musical chairs.

I've seen stories in past week. Can you post something saying they expect a drop next year? I'm not challenging you, as much as saying I have not seen that.

The cap is based on revenue--the TV deals aren't changing as far as we know and that's the major driver of the cap.
I think there's two more years left on the TV deal (this year and next). I think the talk of a big increase was because the NFL wanted to get the TV deal extended after settling with the Union and was hopeful that the extension plus 17th game would lead to much more TV revenue.

Clearly you have to think that merch sales, ticket sales, etc, are going to plummet this year.

FWIW, Schefter had tweet a little while ago about a FA signing where the had a big first year payout so that they could renegotiate in year because of cap increases.

There are extra games (both regular season and playoffs) coming on line = more $$$.

Tom is going to go to the Bucs to finish his career there? No way - I could see the chargers, but not the Bucs. That’d be a disaster for Tom. They are the leverage team that has not real shot.

Well, at least if he comes back he’ll be good and pissed at all the other teams passing him up. That 199 must be getting stale as motivation.

Is virus news stealing a bit of Brady's The Decision gravitas mojo? Or maybe the lack of other legit sporting news is actually amplifying it? I can't even tell.

Brady finishing his career with the Bucs would just be so....wrong. On so many levels. But if that's where he wants to spend his last couple of seasons......oh well.

One thing is clear. The stories about his market not being robust were true. He still may get paid from one team but it's crazy to think these teams are his market. I thought the allure would bring in many teams. Looks as though outside teams see him as the oldest QB to ever play and clearly on the down side. They prefer to go younger.

I’m shocked Alex Guerrero doesn’t have a COVID-19 water to heal it like concussions.

FWIW, Mike Lynch tweeted 33 minutes ago that he was just told that the Dolphins are very interested in Tom Brady.

I could be naive, but I don't see a guy like Mariota signing without a promise that he'll have a shot at the starting job. And you don't sign Brady and tell him he needs to win the starting job.

But it's a fair point that assuming anything about the Raiders' thinking is folly.

With Diggs off to Buffalo (ugh) and Hooper to the Browns, the "we'll surround you with better skill players on offense" speech just got a little tougher. No matter who the QB is, the offensive skills positions will be a big question for this team.

Here
The Bucs don’t make sense, but gun to my head I would say Brady to the Dolphins. Finished strong, lots of supporting talent, lots of money to spend yet, tons of trade capital, Flores, great city, etc. I think they are a lot closer than people give them credit for and could compete next year if Brady is still elite (big if).

I think they really want him, too.

I wonder how much Brady cares about his legacy. Maybe that’s not the right word. But it’s one thing to leave NE and play in the other conference for a total non rival. But to leave and play for an arch rival in your own division.... some fans may blame Belichick but that move would be a very bitter pill for Pats fans to swallow. It would be like Pedro leaving and going to the Yankees. Except that, as much as I love Pedro, Brady has meant FAR more to his team than Pedro did. Brady has meant far more to NE sports fans than Pedro did. For a bunch of reasons.

How much does Brady care about things like that? I don’t know the answer. I guess we will find out.

That's my gut too. While it's always seemed crazy to me that Tom would leave, between the limited dollars left for Tom and skill players on offense, what Miami is doing in free agency, Flores, Miami as a city and, perhaps, the chance to really stick it to Bill, I think they are a serious contender. If the Vegas line is still where it was yesterday, that might be a good bet.

Oh, and that Ben Volin didn't manage to add them to his piece this morning in the Globe is classic Ben Volin. Side point, more a media thread one, but it's pretty funny.

Was Michael Jordan's legacy in any way tarnished by his stint in Washington?

My opinion is that Brady has a very limited appeal to teams. He basically has to go to a team that’s a win-now contender that needs a QB. How many teams are legitimately close but have a hole at QB?

Tennessee made the most sense, but you can’t fault them for going with the guy over a decade younger. Everyone else feels like a fringe candidate that’s equal to or worse than New England.

So the question is why does Brady leave NE? For money? Seems like he’s doing ok. To stick it to Bill or just a change of scenery?

Change of scenery/trappings of being valued.

He does need to ask himself whether it’ll be worth starting over given OTAs are fucked/teams may not convene until training camp and he’s risking a situation where the team hasn’t made the playoffs like 18/20 years. Grass isn’t always greener, and this is a particularly tough year for a QB to change teams and learn a new system.
