Completely agree. Bridgewater is going to end up as the odd man out in the game of musical chairs.Bridgewater was looking for $20M+. Not sure how, with what we see now, the Pats make that happen. And I'd rather go with Stidham than pay Bridgewater $20-25M.
I think there's two more years left on the TV deal (this year and next). I think the talk of a big increase was because the NFL wanted to get the TV deal extended after settling with the Union and was hopeful that the extension plus 17th game would lead to much more TV revenue.I've seen stories in past week. Can you post something saying they expect a drop next year? I'm not challenging you, as much as saying I have not seen that.
The cap is based on revenue--the TV deals aren't changing as far as we know and that's the major driver of the cap.
If you want a large heart attack, wait until I post Andy Dalton as Pat Patriot.I had a small heart attack. Well done.
Because of the coronavirus? Or worse, the thought of Big Red in a Patriot uniform? My mental state is far too fragile to laugh at the last few posts...
The combo of Brady not in uniform and Dalton as the replacement overloads my circuit boardBecause of the coronavirus? Or worse, the thought of Big Red in a Patriot uniform?
FWIW, Schefter had tweet a little while ago about a FA signing where the had a big first year payout so that they could renegotiate in year because of cap increases.I think there's two more years left on the TV deal (this year and next). Clearly you have to think that merch sales, ticket sales, etc, are going to plummet this year.

I posted that this morning, those odds have likely changed a bit since that was before Dallas franchised Dak.Bucs are the betting favorite at -150 per BetOnline. Pats are +110. Chargers are +600.

I’m shocked Alex Guerrero doesn’t have a COVID-19 water to heal it like concussions. Is virus news stealing a bit of Brady's The Decision gravitas mojo? Or maybe the lack of other legit sporting news is actually amplifying it? I can't even tell.
When Brady returns and Pats go 19-0 they will...I’m shocked Alex Guerrero doesn’t have a COVID-19 water to heal it like concussions.
I don't think 19-0 is a possible record under the new CBA.When Brady returns and Pats go 19-0 they will...
The two weeks before the SB is a great product release time.I don't think 19-0 is a possible record under the new CBA.
It is in 2020 season.I don't think 19-0 is a possible record under the new CBA.
Because?Vegas signed Mariota, so that likely does it for Brady going there.
Trading musket fire for Pirates of the Caribbean cannon blasts would be surreal and unsatisfying. If Brady goes to the Bucs that would be an insane trip. Just fade away to irrelevance.
I could be naive, but I don't see a guy like Mariota signing without a promise that he'll have a shot at the starting job. And you don't sign Brady and tell him he needs to win the starting job.Because?
I wonder how much Brady cares about his legacy. Maybe that’s not the right word. But it’s one thing to leave NE and play in the other conference for a total non rival. But to leave and play for an arch rival in your own division.... some fans may blame Belichick but that move would be a very bitter pill for Pats fans to swallow. It would be like Pedro leaving and going to the Yankees. Except that, as much as I love Pedro, Brady has meant FAR more to his team than Pedro did. Brady has meant far more to NE sports fans than Pedro did. For a bunch of reasons. The Bucs don’t make sense, but gun to my head I would say Brady to the Dolphins. Finished strong, lots of supporting talent, lots of money to spend yet, tons of trade capital, Flores, great city, etc. I think they are a lot closer than people give them credit for and could compete next year if Brady is still elite (big if).
I think they really want him, too.
That's my gut too. While it's always seemed crazy to me that Tom would leave, between the limited dollars left for Tom and skill players on offense, what Miami is doing in free agency, Flores, Miami as a city and, perhaps, the chance to really stick it to Bill, I think they are a serious contender. If the Vegas line is still where it was yesterday, that might be a good bet.The Bucs don’t make sense, but gun to my head I would say Brady to the Dolphins. Was Michael Jordan's legacy in any way tarnished by his stint in Washington?I wonder how much Brady cares about his legacy. Maybe that’s not the right word. How much does Brady care about things like that? I don’t know the answer. I guess we will find out.
Yes?Was Michael Jordan's legacy in any way tarnished by his stint in Washington?
My opinion is that Brady has a very limited appeal to teams. He basically has to go to a team that’s a win-now contender that needs a QB. How many teams are legitimately close but have a hole at QB?One thing is clear. The stories about his market not being robust were true. He still may get paid from one team but it's crazy to think these teams are his market. I thought the allure would bring in many teams. Looks as though outside teams see him as the oldest QB to ever play and clearly on the down side. They prefer to go younger.
Change of scenery/trappings of being valued. My opinion is that Brady has a very limited appeal to teams. He basically has to go to a team that’s a win-now contender that needs a QB. How many teams are legitimately close but have a hole at QB?
Tennessee made the most sense, but you can’t fault them for going with the guy over a decade younger. Everyone else feels like a fringe candidate that’s equal to or worse than New England.
So the question is why does Brady leave NE? For money? Seems like he’s doing ok. To stick it to Bill or just a change of scenery?
The Wizards weren’t an ascending division rival. Moreover, he had been retired for three seasons before making a comeback. This is totally different. Was Michael Jordan's legacy in any way tarnished by his stint in Washington?
Really? Where do the Wizards come up when talking about MJ's legacy? Titles, scoring, will/drive to win, leaving for 2 years to play baseball, 63 vs C's, 69 vs Cleveland.....list goes on and on. To me, the Wizards would be at the very bottom.Yes?
