2020 PGA Tour

I just don't get it.....golf channel literally shows every shot of featured groups (which is the point of pgatour live) how about you show other people and if someone wants to watch EVERY shot of featured guys they go to that coverage geesh
Again, we're in the middle of a pandemic, and only so many cameramen are available onsite - this is not normal Friday Golf Channel coverage. It can't be.

I’m certainly not suggesting that the Tour or its broadcasters should compromise safety, but what’s the obstacle to having the normal number of cameras on the course? Doesn’t seem like social distancing on a golf course with no fans would be hard to do.

This is just because you don't know what goes into a golf production. I've said in this thread a number of times, but the cameras on the course don't magically turn into a broadcast. There are a lot of people in a lot of close proximity in production trucks. Feeding what is essentially PGA Tour Live to the Golf Channel means a couple trucks don't need to be there with dozens of people in cramped quarters for hours on end. This doesn't even touch on all of the support systems in place for those active in the production. There's a lot that goes into putting one of these events on TV that you don't see.

They moved tee times up and the Golf Channel is showing soccer. #growthegame

The third missed putt on 18 for a guy trying to get to 17 under. This time it's Noren, who only needed a birdie and blasted his 2nd shot over the green.

The dream playoff of 6 guys is dying.

I’m a big fan of his, but he’s definitely near the top of an underachiever list.
Yeah, he's always seemingly involved and at or near the top of the leaderboard but it comes time to hand out the trophy, he's nowhere to be found. That tee shot on 18 doesn't help matters.

USGA announces no fans at Winged Foot for the US Open. Next up, ANGC.

We'll see what a fan-less major feels like next week at Harding Park for the PGA Championship.

I thought he was quite good when he guested as a commentator last year, so it's been shocking to me how back he's been this year.
Oh well.
Interesting that he said he's focusing on returning to play. He is 56, but I guess lighting up the Champions tour must be more lucrative than lugging around the broadcast equipment every weekend for CBS.

He should just go and be made permanent Ryder Cup captain until they are consistently not a disaster. He wears the Miracle at Medinah a bit but his teams are the only ones in recent history that haven't been a total shitshow.

My guess is that CBS told him he stinks, but let him go out on his own terms.

I'd let Azinger take another turn at the wheel, but yeah, Team USA could use some Tony Jacklin-like continuity for a while to stabilize the ship.

Spieth, trying to hack it out of woods, hits a tree and has the ball go backwards. I’ve done that.

Edit: chips his 3rd out sideways, then from like 220 out dumps his 4th in the water. Looking at a snowman.

I think he wants relief due to fire ants!?!

Edit: His ball nestled into a root, but it appears he’s trying some rules sorcery based on an ant hole to get relief. This is unbelievable, even for him.

I'm guessing nobody on tour has ever been granted relief from fire ants or we would have heard about it from Bryson there during his plea...

The best was when the rules official said he didn’t see anything that would be a dangerous situation and then Bryson tried to counter by pointing out 2 red ants.

I think they call officials over more often than you think. I know that if I was a player and anything even remotely questionable came up, I’d have them by my side. Even a routine drop from a cart path, sprinkler head or red stake.

Invoking a dangerous animal situation for ants is another story, however. I’d like to ask that official how many times he’s ever had to review a situation where that rule would apply. Only Bryson would’ve come up with that on the fly.

That video with Bryson was actually enjoyable to watch. In the sense that I’m simply flabbergasted that anyone would think to ask for relief from a root because there are ants in the vicinity.

The great fire ant precedent set in the summer of 1968 by Arnold Palmer.
I also enjoyed this. Bigly. (Or bugly, as the case may be.)
