If they tie again on 10, they go to 14 which is that drivable par 4. JT has layed up all week, Morikawa drive it to like 10 feet in regulation.

I still can’t believe the first playoff hole
This. I had literally just finished serving dinner to my family and was getting ready to sit down at the table when JT made his putt, and I ushered everyone back into the living room to show it to them. Then I hung around until Morikawa made *his* putt, and I just about did it again. Bonkers...the post-pandemic PGA Tour has been a massive hit here in CP Manor, that's for sure.

I LOVE the tournaments without the fans.
I completely agree, although I am starting to wonder what a fan-free major is going to feel like and how it will compare with these normal events. At least the PGA Championship (least important of the four majors) gets to be the guinea pig for the US Open, which in turn will help Augusta National decide whether to move forward with a fan-free Masters...I think the latter would be amazing, but I'm not convinced ANGC really wants to go down that road.

I gotta echo that the playoff (especially the 1st hole) was awesome. I do agree that crowds would have been a factor on the 1st playoff hole. Probably more so on Morikawas "rebuttal" than on JT's initial bomb putt.
Morikawa's was crazy in that it was the same line as Thomas's on the 72nd hole but behaved completely differently.

Well, tour announced there will be no fans for the rest of the season. So next up is the US Open on 9/20 and then the Masters in November. The US Open feels like a long shot to have fans and they probably have to make a decision relatively soon. Who knows what ANGC will do. They pride themselves on being the ultimate golf fan experience. They have the resources and assholeishness to gobble up as many tests as they want. Or maybe they develop a vaccine on their own just for their membership and tournament. If they do decide to go fanless, I wonder if they would open up the TV viewing window?

I'm also loving he no-fan tournament viewing experience. I do wonder if the majors will be able to drum up enough energy and excitement to differentiate them from the week to week Tour stops.

Tiger playing in a no-fan tournament this week will also be an interesting test. A big part of the Tiger experience is his gallery.

Fans at Augusts are packed like sardines. And Georgia is (currently) a hot spot.

I would be absolutely shocked if they have fans at Augusta.

FWIW, my understanding was that by "the season" the PGA Tour means through to the end of the FedEx Cup playoffs, and not through to the end of the year given that the new wraparound season starts shortly thereafter. So it's still possible they might have fans at The Masters (and the US Open, for that matter), although I agree with @Average Reds that I can't see it happening at the moment.

An important thing to note is that the PGA Tour does not run the PGA Championship, The US Open or The Masters, so when they announce that there will be no fans at PGA Tour events, they mean events run by the PGA Tour. They don't make those decisions for the USGA, PGA of America or ANGC outside of the fact that the players are the Tour and could decide not to play any of the events if they so choose.

I know, but my assumption has been that because the PGA of America has fallen in line with the PGA Tour and won't have any fans at Harding Park next month, the USGA will likely fall in line with what's happening on the PGA Tour as well. And although Augusta National seemed pretty insistent in the spring that they didn't want to hold The Masters without fans, I suspect that decision will be largely out of their hands by November. (I had previously thought it more likely that they'd just cancel The Masters again if they couldn't have any fans, but I now think that the PGA Championship and then US Open going first without fans will have set a precedent the ANGC will reluctantly follow if they have to.)

He's a one-off and it's not sustainable. He won't continue to work out this hard while grinding on tour, it's way too hard on your body. It'll be impossible for him to keep the weight on without getting absolutely burnt out.
To this point - anyone think that Bryson is already looking a little slimmer? I'm watching him this morning on PGA Tour Live and he's not as bulky as he was a few weeks ago. It could also just be me and the fit of this particular shirt, so who knows.

Tiger with a gorgeous 3 wood off the tee then a beautiful iron into 1. About 10 feet for birdie. Let's go!

Wheels off for Tiger. +5 today through 11. Missed 2 putts inside 4 feet early in the round, one for birdie one for par. Struggling off the tee for the last several holes. Drove it in the fair way on 1 but a bad approach led to a double.

Tiger ended up at +3 after birdies at 7 and 8, which is T72. Uncomfortable swing off the tee at 9 let to a scramble for par. The announcers are making it seem like +3 has no chance, but I think it might have a chance with afternoon wave getting ready to go and pthe course playing difficult.

I think +3 is extremely likely to make the cut.

Already down to T67. Sure seems like it’ll be good. Maybe they were just trying to build drama on the last hole, but I was surprised how adamant they were that +3 would be no good.
It was simply very bad commentary, that's what it was. I was watching it at the time as well, and not to even mention that +3 might have a chance is just not good enough.

By the by, if Tiger had made par on his final hole, there was a decent chance he might have been paired with Phil tomorrow (who had finished at +2 just ahead of him). Oh well.
