Kinda curious how they’ll handle the FedEx Cup. More so for the impact on a guy like Rob than anything else. He was 119 before the pause They have the 4 potential events before the playoffs under this revised schedule. I suppose the easiest thing is just cut off the 125 after the Wyndham and go from there. That may be somewhat beneficial for Rob.

Also, Ryder Cup qualifying is going to be all out of whack. Let’s see 12 captains picks. Prime time draft show.

New schedule announced. Feels kinda dumb to this with so much uncertainty, but here here it is:

June 15-21: PGA Tour Event (formerly US Open)

July 13-19: PGA Tour Event (Formerly Open)
July 27-August 2: PGA Tour Event (Formerly Olympics)

August 3-9: PGA Championship TPC Harding Park, San Francisco
August 10-16: Wyndham Championships
August 17-23: TPC Northern Trust *TPC Boston*
August 24-30: BMW Champinoships
August 31-September 7: Tour Championshop (Labor Day finish)

September 14-20: US Open, Winged Foot Golf Club, New York
September 22-27: Ryder Cup, Whistling Straits, Wisconsin

November 9-15: Masters Tournament, Augusta National Golf Club

It looks like they built some wiggle room with some of the tour events in June/July in case those get waxed or they need to push things back. August and September are jam packed though. US Open and Ryder Cup on back-to-back weeks is going to be wild. Veteran's Day Masters is going to be super weird.
Wait, am I missing something? Their plan is to have their first even the week of June 15, and then not have another event until the week of July 13?

Listened to the NLU deep dive on Phil today (highly recommend), which has led me to watch some of Phil's Masters. We open in 2010 where the broadcast starts with Nantz and Faldo in Butler cabin and Nantz scolding Tiger for some foul language from the previous day. Tsk, tsk.

Boy did Anthony Kim go OFF down the stretch in the 2010 Masters. Even got a Verne YES SIR! on 16. Shame how his story finished.

Nobody really knows how his story finished
His pro golf story probably is.
When does his insurance payment come due? I heard 2021 or 2022, so we'll see then. Although my guess is he's not gonna jump back on tour then. He's an all time golf 'What if?" story, but I think his disappearance definitely led to his legend being more popular/exaggerated. But some of the stories of him on (and off) the course are awesome.

In this vein, NLU did a "Top What If?" podcast a week or two ago about all of the different what if people in golf. This could be junior golf legends who never panned out (shoutout Phil Francis), pros walking away in their prime (shoutout Lorena Ochoa) or golfers who could have easily won multiple majors but for a couple breaks (shoutout Chris DiMarco). It was super interesting and had a ton of different names covered (15-20 I think) where I learned a lot.

The most recent article I can find on is from 2019 when a golf.com writer randomly bumped into him. Kim apparently said his golf game was non-existent.

Here’s the 2014 story that shed some light on the insurance policy. Skimmed the story, don’t see anything about an expira

He had 2 Masters run plus a fantastic Ryder Cup. Definitely seemed to be on his way to stardom when he got injured.

Also, where is he sitting? I can’t figure out all the wires coming out of his wall. Some kind of simulator? The tile work looks like a bathroom/kitchen though. Confusing.

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
Tiger mentioned that even though the Masters was cancelled, his mind and body were peaking just as Masters week was kicking off. It's amazing that his biological clock is so closely tied to Augusta, he lives for that place.

What am I missing here? I have the 2019 Masters on but hear/see no extra commentary. Just appears to be a straight rebroadcast.

Yeah they just have segments where Nantz interviews Tiger interspersed.

Tiger has forever needed a style consultant to do a Lebron grade makeover and wardrobe upgrade when off the course.
Tiger only looks good when other people (aka Nike) dress him.

Reed's afternoon fourball session on Day 2 in 2016 is one of the best Ryder performances ever. He basically beat Rose and Stenson on his own. 7 birdies and an eagle.

Wonder if he makes the team this year. Playing pretty well before the shutdown, but is the baggage too much now? Plus he was a disaster in France and Australia. Seems to have Tiger in his corner though which is a big.

Reed/McIlroy was really something on the front 9 that Sunday. Too bad they ran out of gas and limped to the finish.

I think the 8th hole pretty much used up all they had.

I was sitting by the 16th green when it happened and the roar was absolutely deafening. Never heard anything like it.

Phil made literally every putt he looked at against Sergio, too.

Crazy year for Phil. Halved a Ryder Cup match with dueling 63’s, lost the Open from the final pairing while shooting 65.

Travelers in June is a stretch. Good luck to them in pulling it off.
Without fans, I'm not sure I see a huge challenge. Outside of the golfers how many people need to be on the golf course assuming no fans?

obviously you need security to keep people out. The TV people might be 100-200. A few officials.

Connecticut hasn't closed down golf courses during the height of the situation. I'm not sure why we think they might in 2 months

With no fans there will be roughly 1000 people required to put on the tournament, including 300ish players+caddies.
