"gameday video violations "

How clever to slip that phrasing in there, as if it were involving the game the Pats were actually playing in.

They're going to lose a pick. We can yell at the clouds all we want, but that won't change anything.

The matter is: How valuable of a pick will they lose?
Depends who they were going to pick in 2021 with the pick for which they were trading that pick

I'm sorry, but the Patriots absolutely deserve this. I still haven't received a good answer on why this violation didn't happen to other teams this season if everybody does it. The Patriots are the only team that are doing a documentary?

The NFL was predictable in throwing this little nugget the day of the Patriots game and giving a timeframe of two weeks. Which means either the week of the AFCCG or the week they're eliminated. Everybody looks shitty in this situation.

I’m not surprised that discipline is expected. The rule was broken, even though there was no ill intent. A fine for Kraft because they are his employees makes sense. Taking away draft picks or suspensions is overboard if they weren’t able to make a link to football ops attempting to gain a competitive advantage.

Bengals could do a documentary and call it something like “How to lose every year for decades and then be outraged at the team that wins every year for decades with a false accusation”

What false accusation? They said a Patriots film crew was filming their sideline during a game. They were

Seems odd to say they deserve it when the punishment hasn't been announced.

And I still think lots of folks haven't glommed onto the fact that the NFL did not/could not tie this to actual football operations. Which is different from the examples of potential discipline that Schefter tweeted.

We lost a 2nd round pick for nothing. Losing the 3rd would really suck even with the 2 comp picks coming.

It's been reported that they have not done so. That's a bit different than the NFL officially saying that there was no link.

Picking and choosing which media reports to take as truth is a slippery slope.

I think they will get dinged a draft pick based on a) it's the Patriots ... again ... and the Deflategte punishment was tied to previous alleged misbehavior; b) Goodell and the old guard are tired/pissed off at continually having to deal with NE about missteps; and c) anything less than a draft pick will be seen as insufficient.

They're going to get hit with something that, from the Patriots side, seems too much and, from the anti-Patriots side, seems too little

I miss spoke. What I meant was a loser team complaining about a documentary crew filming some sideline stuff from their sideline.

“Reports” and discipline are coming in during Superbowl week. What a shocker!

Waiting for reports from whom?
I imagine there is a call out to all 31 teams to interview anyone and everyone and scour the archives looking for anything remotely inflammatory.

Who has used the excuse that everyone does it in this specific instance? Does what exactly? Films a documentary of an advanced scout from their box?

I’ve seen a pretty uniform response here at BBTL that the Patriots deserve some form of punishment. But considering they won’t be able to link this to football operations, suspending Belichick would be absird. Losing a relatively high draft pick would also be absurd, but it’s most likely going to happen.

Anything more than a fine would be absurd. We literally have examples of other teams taping in similar manners and nothing ever happens to them. Given the Pats' past, I'm perfectly good with a large fine, but anything more than that would be completely unfair.

I think we have to expect past behavior to factor into this decision tho. From that perspective, the Patriots have more than a fine coming to them.

Of course, DFG was BS, so it’s not exactly deserved, but that’s not what the official record says.

ATL loses 5th-round pick, Falcons fined $350k, President Rich McKay suspended from competition committee for piping in crowd noise.
I still for the life of me can't believe that piping in crowd noise in order to gain a gameday advantage got off this lightly. Oh no, Rich McKay won't have any input on the latest round of convoluted rules for the next season! That'll show'em.

Honest question: What do you think the penalty would be for the Patriots if they got caught doing that tonight?

Did Polian/Irsay ever get fined for the same thing?

Except we've seen it doesn't.

It's simply because it's the Patriots that the punishment will be grossly disproportionate.

I point to multiple Seahawks, Ravens, and Colts violations that never raised to this level.

That actually makes me feel a little better. The multiple tweets today smelled like the league laying the groundwork via the media as they often do.

The question of what the hell is taking so long remains.
The investigation is being done by the "very important and busy" people of the NFL security staff. Finding time for each of them to watch 8 minutes of video and conduct a couple of interviews will be one of the most arduous undertakings in the history of mankind.

Goodell is a kick them when they're down kinda guy so I'd expect whatever trash decision he comes up with to happen on Monday.
I believe Brady and BB have to do season-ender press conferences tomorrow, so NFL HQ will get it out there before that.

Goodell can fuck right off with this. "We haven't found anything bad yet, but don't worry we owe it to everyone who regularly gets their asses kicked by the Patriots to find something we can pin on them and take more picks."

Remember the earlier report that said investigators were frustrated they couldn't tie in the dudes filming with the football ops department.

I hate this fucking league. They're all liars and frauds.

They have been more thorough with this than they were with the supposed year-long review of psi numbers from across the league.

Edit: SJH, it was the same last time around too. Schefter said the league was having a hard time finding anyone to pin anything on. The league is a walking solution in search of a problem.

The longer it goes, the more reporters will ask, the more ESPN et al, will "report" on the questions being ask, the deeper ingrained in fans minds that it is another "cheating" scandal. Then, when the punishment is handed out, it will be seen nationally as too little ... because reasons ... and the NFL will accomplish what it sought out to do

I 100% understand the persecution complex from DFG, but much like Spygate they get what they have coming for this. IT was just fucking stupid.
Sure fine Kraft/the team for negligence in hiring an incompetent film crew. They've been trying for a month and a half to tie this to Belichick and have come up with nothing. That quote from Goodell is ridiculous
