In the past few weeks, the NFL has apologized to various teams for officials' errors. You know what team has NOT received an apology from the NFL? That's right, the fine folks at 1 Patriot Place, for the horrific mistakes made by the Bogar crew in the KC game.

Not a single peep.

No link, but there is a picture out there tonight of a Ravens coach on the sideline today with a Bluetooth thing in his ear from today.

Of course, they’re the Patriots, so the penalty will be four to five times stronger than it would be for any other team doing the exact same thing. So instead of just the $150,000 fine issued to the Giants and a backward shift 10 spots in the fourth round of the draft when head coach Ben McAdoo illegally used a walkie-talkie during a game, or the Browns getting hit with a $250,000 fine and a GM suspension when the GM was texting to the sidelines during a game, expect a little more. It shouldn’t match the $350,000 fine and stripping of a fifth-round pick that was levied on the Falcons for pumping in crowd noise during games … but it probably will.

the Giants coach had a walkie talkie and they got barely a slap on the wrist.

and the Bucs GM was texting.
I forget all the details but I had the post earlier in this thread.
Yep.

- Jets videotaped: no penalty
- Giants had walkie talkies: slap on the wrist
- Steelers used deflated footballs: nothing
- Panthers caught on TV actually tampering with footballs on the sideline DURING A GAME (just like 4 weeks before DFG): nothing

Meanwhile:
- Patriots videotape: $750k fine, loss of 1st round pick
- Laws of physics caught deflating Patriots footballs: $1m fine, loss of 1st and 4th round picks, QB suspended 4 games
- TV production crew taping B-roll of Bengals' sidelines: Almost certain loss of draft picks and if the NFL gets its way, possible BB suspension

If Harbaugh is generally aware that the guy two feet from him is violating NFL sideline rules the penalty is clear....call Ted Wells and tell him what to conclude :)

I’ve seen Ravens people on twitter say that is the head of security and not anyone involved in football. I assume that is likely true and this is almost certainly nothing.
I completely understand that the entire world would freak out if there was a picture of someone on the Pats sideline with a Bluetooth earpiece on.
Oh, for sure. The NFL could even put out a statement that the Pats security guy was wearing a mandatory NFL-issued earpiece, and that wouldn't make a difference.

It would be funny to seed Twitter with these exact stories, replacing the team with “Patriots” and watch people lose their shit.

Did you read my last sentence?
The people freaking out over the taping are morons, I get pointing out hypocrisy but I don’t feel the need to be a moron(I’m not saying you are a moron).

NFL waiting until the week before the super bowl to announce....or the day after we are eliminated if we dont get there
I wonder if they are going to base the outcome/penalty on how far the Pat's make it. I could see them having a pre determined/graduated penalty for each subsequent round we make it through as the public outcry against the Pat's will be far less if we aren't relevant.

Still nothing?
There's absolutely no way that if the NFL was even kind of serious about this, that they'd not have their "investigation" wrapped up by now.

When the Giants were caught using walkie-talkies on the sidelines (god imagine if the Patriots had done THAT!) on Dec 11, 2016, it took the NFL less than two weeks to wrap up their investigation and issue a penalty. Just 9 days later Ben McAdoo and the Giants were fined. Nine days to complete the investigation and levy the penalty.

The Kraft production video crew were "caught" taping Cincy's sidelines during their Dec 8 game in Cleveland. It's now Dec 31, some 23 days later. And not a peep from the NFL.

This doesn't mean they're sweeping it under the rug. It means they're waiting for the opportune time to hammer the Pats.

From that article

The league’s investigation of the latest video incident involving the Patriots is winding down and could be completed as soon as this week, according to those people. They said it remains likely at this point, barring the last-minute uncovering of more damaging evidence, that the NFL will impose penalties consistent with those handed out in recent years in other cases of game-day infractions.

That’s why the penalty should be minimal. It’s a technicality, an inadvertent violation of the rules absent a way to convert that violation into a strategic benefit. And while that doesn’t excuse the behavior, it keeps it distinct from the examples identified by Maske, and it makes the prospect of taking away draft picks unwarranted.
Mike Florio talking sense in noting all the recent ones noted in the Post piece involved actual strategic intent so the Pats fine should be minimal and draft picks absurd considering the other examples.

Unless, the Ginger Hamster invokes the double-secret probation clause, citing earlier team penalties as a precursor to this one

A basis for Pats’ discipline. Former Cleveland GM Ray Farmer was suspended four games without pay and Browns fined $250K for in-game texting. ATL loses 5th-round pick, Falcons fined $350k, President Rich McKay suspended from competition committee for piping in crowd noise.
If they get penalized similarly to these infractions (which I now expect to happen), it's a total joke - these were game day violations during games in which the teams were actually competing and trying to gain an advantage.

And who would get suspended for the film crew's error? BB? Kraft? The video guys? Frankly, I don't care about the financial penalty. I don't think it would be ok for anyone - especially anyone on the football side of things - to get suspended. Losing a pick would similarly be absurd.

But don't be surprised if it happens.

They're going to lose a pick. We can yell at the clouds all we want, but that won't change anything.

The matter is: How valuable of a pick will they lose?

We couldn't find any links that shows actual wrong doing or attempts to gain a competitive advantage - but here Adam, we disciplined other teams for infractions so lets float this balloon of a 4 game suspension, 250k and loss of a 5th round draft pick.

“Reports” and discipline are coming in during Superbowl week. What a shocker!

Waiting for reports from whom?

Suspending a GM 4 games really isn't that big of a deal. They'll get a fine and lose a 4th or 5th round pick, everyone can call us cheaters again and we can all move on with our lives.
