Parents, don’t let your kids grow up to be running backs.
There was a really good article a few years ago in Sports Illustrated interviewing a bunch of defensive backs about how they all played RB in high school and even some in college, but switched to DB because your career is going to be so much longer.

Given the lifetime of RBs this seems like a very fair deal
Chris Jones is making over 20 million a year, 15 million a year guaranteed. Henry got 6 million a year guaranteed, and 12.5 a year total. Different world altogether. And Henry was a MONSTER last year.

Running backs are seemingly a dime a dozen.

All the other tagged players (12 in total) failed to reach extensions, meaning they’ll play (or not) under the one year tender.

Frankly, despite this reported last minute push by the Cowboys and Dak to sign an extension, I think Dak is likely to make out going year to year. If he gets tagged again, he will make at least 120 percent of his current 31.4M salary, which equates to 37.68M fully guaranteed. And if he gets tagged a third time - which hasn’t happened before, I don’t think - he would receive a 140 percent escalator (which would equate to almost 53M fully guaranteed).

Dak could realistically pocket over 60M over the next two years and then hit the market with the chance to pocket a huge signing bonus and multi year guarantees. A la Kirk Cousins.

Take length of career out of it and just focus on impact while they’re peak players. Who makes their team better: Henry for Ten or Jones for KC?

Probably Jones.
I can accept that answer, though I think Ten goes absolutely nowhere without Henry, while KC still does damage without Jones. But even if you’re right, how big is the delta? Big enough to justify the difference in salaries between the two?

TEN is worse without Henry but they're worse, period. They've gone 9-7 every year of Henry's career, and really the offense hasn't been very good over that span (and was downright terrible in 2018). So I'm not sure that's the right way to think about it. The Titans O was sputtering again in 2019 and then they switched QBs and suddenly that made all the difference.

The delta is based on a lot of things: value in the passing game (Henry is not really a factor as a receiver; Jones has averaged 10 sacks over the last three years), age projections (RB lose it fast, DTs not as much), replaceability (the 2021 RB FA class is loaded, so it's easier to find an alternative for Henry than for Jones), etc.

I do think some of the "RB don't matter" hate has gone too far and I like Henry a lot as a player. I don't want any business with a big contract for a RB though.

EDIT: On closer inspection ... I probably wouldn't give Jones that deal either.

Henry has 2-3 years max of prime production left. I think he did ok for himself all things considered. He’s a one-dimensional RB who’s in his mid 20s. Not easy position for negotiations.

No. I'm going off the tweet above which mentions masks but nothing about capacity.
Oh ok, I didn't take that tweet that way, but I can see the ambiguity of it. I think Schefter is just saying that those that do attend will be required to wear a mask. As dumb as the NFL is, I don't think even they would allow teams to pack the house short of wearing hazmat suits.

Full deal from ESPN:

The Seahawks will send safety Bradley McDougald, first-round picks in 2021 and 2022 and a third-round pick in 2021 to New York in exchange for Adams and the Jets' fourth-round pick in 2022. The deal is pending physicals.
Am I wrong, or this a pretty good deal given the circumstances?

I think it's great for both teams. Seattle is all in during Wilson's prime and saves money on the cap this season. The Jets get a big haul for someone who didn't want to be there.

"just 33"? Why do people say stuff like this? 33 is old for an athlete.

EDIT: To add to this, only 15 OL league-wide in 2019 were 33 or older. Of those, three (Yanda, Staley, Ramon Foster) have since retired, several more (Penn, Dotson, Chris Clark, Ryan Kalil, John Jerry, A.Q. Shipley) are still free agents (as was Jason Peters until last week). That's an age where guys are at the end of the line even if they haven't just taken the last two years off.
