That “all 50 states” thing sounds potentially problematic. What happens if Hawaii remains in lockdown? What happens if some extreme governor wants to stick it to Trump by keeping SIP beyond all others?
If there's one governor holding back the NFL for that reason, he'd immediately be the least popular man/woman in America.

WEEI the other day was talking about Disney backing off from making a new major broadcast deal with NFL which included moving MNF back onto ABC. Some potential for a new broadcast partner such as Amazon to step into the void.

Heck, or Apple. At that point they could give their AppleTV units away for free to anyone that signed up for two years of TV+ and they’d have a hundred million subscribers overnight.

DirecTV Now (currently AT&T TV) did this when they launched; committing to 3 months of the service (which I think base was $40/month at the time) got you a free Apple TV 4K unit. Needless to say, they did not garner a hundred million subscribers overnight.

Why would Glazer wait until 11 eastern to drop major "national" news?

I hope Glazer tanks because of this. He’s always been a self-aggrandizing, wannabe little nugget, but teasing news of someone’s illness this way in the middle of a pandemic is pretty damn vulgar.

I almost thought the player testing positive was like one of those late breaking news reports that you see sometimes. "This just in to the newsroom" or something like that. Then I check twitter and see that is the actual story. Lame.

I'm sure even if Shefter or Rappaport had found this out, they were like, "go ahead, Jay, you can have this one".

Yeah, maybe people would have cared about a month ago but we’re now 30k deaths so a player that nobody knows testing positive is basically a nothingburger. Glazer sucks.

I mean, I get what you're saying, but it does say right in the tweet about adjustments and contingencies. And the article (which he did not link) said the NFL is thinking about a shorter season and is designing the schedule in a way to make that (relatively) easy to adjust to.
I know. I just think they'd be better off waiting until mid-late June or even later. Why continue on May 9?

Because it is the NFL. They get coverage May 9, then more coverage when it has to be adjusted

Easy to adjust. Hmm, does that mean all the division games will be at the end of the schedule?

Patriots vs. Bears, 2018 (Pats, 38-31):

Trey Burton: 9/126/1

We know what that means!
