Dayum! Is that AZ? CA? r/houseporn. But seriously, what a tool for that wardrobe choice for the draft.
I'm guessing AZ. Perfect place to unwind. Maybe too perfect.

The funniest part for me is the lonely lit firepit outside in the middle of the day in what is probably a desert clime. Given the extravagance overall, it wouldn't surprise me if the Olympic torch went by at some point and started it. If there's an unknown soldier beneath it, however, major props to KK.

Yeah, the artificial turf squares are also just so twee. Too bad Gertruse Stein didn't live long enough to see that picture

@Zososoxfan Uche is a tough projection. I like him and Baun but they aren't the biggest guys on the edge and other analysts have them as ILB/OLB hybrid players. You could say 3-4 OLBs and that works but again small for what BB likes there although KVN (who cost a 6th) did well there in that role. I could see either one of them playing a KVN or Collins type of role.

Quick edit: I am a little concerned that it took him so long to crack their rotation given his obvious athletic talent especially when he has the ball in his hands. Heard rumors that he was not the smartest guy and had trouble with the play book. Great guy and a leader but had trouble picking things up.
They had Darrell Henderson, a 3rd round RB pick, and Tony Pollard, a similar positionless weapon and Cowboys 4th round pick. So I'm not surprised it took him a while to get a crack.

Another guy I forgot to mention as a potential day 2 RB/WR/returner is Antonio Gibson out of Memphis. You want to see his potential just pop on his tape vs... SMU in 2019. He was a one man army. Talk about a guy with a high ceiling and a floor as a returner... he could be the RB1 dual-threat by year 2-3 or he could be a bust. Evans has the higher floor as a receiving back but Gibson is also very much my guy. Class act too.

If true, the difficulties with the playbook are worrying. Who's the last guy the Pats picked with similar concerns according to pre-draft rumors? I can't think of any off-hand.

I don't know - that's actually a good question and something I'd like to know to because it helps with the spreadsheets. Anyone know the answer to this?

The Patriots will pick players who are 2 rounds early on everyone else's boards.

This isnt a criticism. In many cases they are tremendous players. Just saying, I cant even bother trying to make guesses based on the best available because they have their own completely different ranking system I have found.

KJ Hamler is off my color-coded Patriots board for size reasons but Lombardi likes him. He is 61st on my personal board and I have him as a better prospect than Tee Higgins (by 2 spots). I've written about Hamler before so no need to regurgitate it here and if BB is ok with his size he could be the speed weapon at WR we have all wanted for so long. He can also be a dynamic returner. Patriots haven't taken a guy like him round 2 at his size. Early day 3 all bets are off if he is still there.

Jalen Hursts makes no sense unless McDaniels plans on using him in a Taysom Hill type role.
Or building an offense around him. Hurts is a better all-around QB than Hill by a lot to me, but you have to commit to his strengths. It's the question of "do you get a QB to fit your offense or build your offense to fit your QB"

I'm not sure this is fair. The last WTF guy they took was Vincent Valentine back in 2016. Certainly guys like Duke Dawson and Cyrus Jones didn't work out, but they weren't really reaches. I don't see anyone in the last three classes that I'd call a true reach.

Vincent Valentine, Jordan Richards and Tavon Wilson...that's another story.

Honest question I don’t know the answer to.

Can we concurrently build an offense around both Hurts and Stidham’s strengths given the personnel on hand and semi-limited resources?

It really wasnt meant as a criticism...i just find the Patriots rating system to rarely line up with the players who the media and the mocks perceive as the best available. They tend to do their own things

The media boards aren’t the TEAM boards, writ large. It’s not a Patriots phenomenon. The mocks’ precipitous drop in accuracy as you get past the first round (and sometimes earlier) reflects this significant information asymmetry.

When Mel Kiper or Mcshay or whoever have their BIG BOARD BEST REMAINING, it’s a pretty useless barometer of what any particular team thinks of these players absent the analysts having anecdotal inside information in some cases.

There is some crossover, but you probably need to decide fairly early which QB you want to move forward with. I don't think personnel is going to be a problem, since most of the roster is near the end of their deal and the one's that aren't fit multiple systems. It might impact drafting though.

I would assume either player there will be changes to make the system more friendly for their mobility (Hurts is more mobile than Stidham, but Stidham is more mobile than Brady was) and to integrate more play action and RPOs. Hurts is the better more dangerous runner, Stidham probably has better mechanics and upside as a passer. You can probably build an offense that would work for either, but you'd at some point decide which way you were going and emphasize each players' unique strengths.

Possibly Chad Jackson? He had injury issues for sure but I recall discussion of his trouble with the playbook. A quick search produced an article where he denies that.
