Something is wrong then. That pick is too good for 30 and letting us get out of VP
If he's right, this draft was an A. Love the Nesmith pick, not a big fan of the Pritchard pick but I'll give him a chance. Trading a 30 for that Jazz pick tho? Robbery.

I agree. Something is missing.

Shouldn't be able to trade pick #30 by itself, let alone with Poirier, for anything more than a heavily protected 1st that turns into a 2nd or two 2nds.

Wasn’t really expecting bigs except in a trade-up scenario but this has been a good night for Robert Williams.

Why would you protect a pick 1-7 then 15-30?
1-7 is Utah protecting against a collapse, 15-30 is Memphis making sure they don't get a shitty 2021 pick, gives more time for Utah to regress, pushes the pick out to a year they'd rather pick in as well

Trading #30 for ANY pick in 2021 is larceny, isn't it? Can't believe they got that and got rid of VP.

Only thing I could think of is that they really loved Bane and were trying to get in for him at earlier picks and couldn't.

Also... maybe they actually like Poirier and took him over Carsen in the salary slot?

I think (think! think! think!) Boston may have gotten a future first round pick from the Utah Jazz in the deal with Memphis. It's got some weird protections on it. Working to confirm. Also Vincent Poirier may have gone to Memphis as well.
If this is true, ainge did well. Any first round pick is better than this year's first round pick. and dumping Poirier? Priceless.
;D

Not really. It's not like VP makes a lot either. I'd say it's the expected rate. VP+1st for a 1st that ends up as a 2nd.

I doubt many drafts are deep enough that a #30 pick in any given year has way more value.

edit: If we get the Utah pick, it's larceny.

pick quoted will not end up a 2nd

I have a hard time we would get that pick when they could just give us their own 2021 pick with their own protections.

If it's that pick, it's like Jeff Green redux.
I think if we insisted on something that could reasonably convey Memphis would rather give us a pick that is likely to be in the 20s in 2021 than their own picks which are more likely to be in the teens at some point.

I don't think the Celtics use 47 unless it's on a guy who will agree not to sign.
We're at 18 players on the roster right now, we'll move off some, but we likely also want to use at least the MLE on a vet.

I'm not convinced Utah is better than Memphis the next 4 seasons.

Yeah once Bolmaro was gone, the 30th pick was getting shipped off, likely for salary relief and a 2nd, or in this case two 2nds

Giving up the 30th pick in a mediocre draft for two future seconds AND getting rid of the Poirer pick is still pretty great.
Don't deny it was a mediocre draft, but that was largely because the top wasn''t good. the draft actually had good depth. I like the player for Memphis, very good deal for them it looks. And not saying it is a bad deal for Boston, as #30 wasn't gonna make the roster anyway
