I'm a little unclear on the rules. He took a penalty to get out from under the unplayable bushes?
Yup.

Important to remember that once he found his ball his options are limited. If he needs relief he can take two club lengths or - keeping the position where his ball came to rest between him and the pin - he can go straight back as far as he wants for a drop. Or he can go back to the tee. (He can’t use his provisional.)

Nobody makes a birdie on 13 out of Scott, Brooks, JT, DJ, Cantlay and Rory. Wonder what kind of odds you could've gotten on that a half hour ago.

Holy crap that guy Cantley shuffled his feet FIVE times before attempting that putt, I was like I hope he misses...and he did.

They said yesterday they were hoping to start around 9:35 but that seems rather ambitious to me.
All the groups should be clear of the 1st and 10th tees at this point. Just depends on how quickly they can cut the pins.

Immelman's only 40, did he get injured or just hang it up? Kinda surprised he chooses the booth over playing in this.

I know he had all sorts of injury problems and eventually lost all of his status. He might be the kind of guy who is just happy with what he's accomplished and doesn't have the drive to pretty much start all over again. Until 10 years from now.

Is that right? Doesn’t he have a few top tens there?

I mean it’s clearly a mental thing but I still think he’ll get one eventually.
I'm obviously exaggerating (because yes, he's had some decent tournaments) but when his tempo is off or his confidence wavers just a little bit, Rory goes off the rails at Augusta like nowhere else.

(Edit: answered as cshea was posting.)

I had a feeling the scores would be this way when the rain came. The players are making a mockery of the course. I've never seen this many players with scores this low in a single round. Augusta National officials must be pissed it's playing this easy.

Featured groups for the 2nd round:

JT, Brooks, Fitz
DJ, Rory, Cantlay

Kuchar, Westwood, Na (!?!)
Xander, Kokrak, Stenson

Fortunately the afternoon ones don't really matter.

It's going to be a very long day for Langer. But, man, he's been so steady for so long now, it's amazing.
He doesn't get nearly enough respect on the all-time great scale. He didn't play in the US a lot but won 43 times on the European Tour, along with a pair of Masters wins, and may be the best senior player ever. He's still making cuts in the real majors too.

By the way, is this normal for ESPN to have live coverage this early in the day? Are they going to be on all day now because they had to end the first round this morning? This is great.
It must be related to the delay, this is the golf that should have been on TV yesterday afternoon.(the end of round one) So I guess they still got to show it and I agree with you, this is extremely great.

This is not normal. I'm pretty sure they'll go off air after Im's group finished 18 since they are the last group on the course for round 1.

Wonder what they'll do tomorrow when they have the same spill over. CBS get it, skip it entirely, or bump either the Masters or Gameday to ESPN2/ABC?
