The Rams are learning the hard way now that all the flash isn't worth it in the long run.
They just signed Leonard Floyd and A'Shawn Robinson to big money. They are just like that one crazy owner in your fantasy league who is just making tons of moves every year regardless of whether or not they're consistent or make sense.

Since word surfaced that Tom Brady is expected to land in Tampa, an unexpected high number of players have reached out to the Buccaneers to let them know they want to join the former Patriots’ QB there, per league sources.

Floyd can slide right into the Littleton role. Littleton was fantastic last season, so maybe Floyd can’t match that production. But he has a similar skill set and athleticism.

Nice landing spot for Floyd, and a 1 year, $10m prove it deal is pretty fantastic. He could cash in next year at age 29.

Unless Washington drafts a QB, or even if they do, Flacco behind Haskins would seem a decent fit

Matthews would make sense as a KVN replacement, if the financials work on both sides. 8 sacks in 13 games last year.

Not surprised the Rams couldn't find a buyer for Gurley, Bill O'Brien already got his terrible trade for a massively overpaid RB put of the way.

Spotract has Gurley as being $20MM dead cap hit.

That can't be right, can it?

What a stupid franchise the Rams are. None of what they did in 2018-2019 is defensible.

They're going to be post Jamarcus Raiders for a while.

National health concerns have changed the way NFL teams are doing contracts for free agency -- and some players won't be happy about it.
NFL teams are placing coronavirus-related provisions in their contracts stating that a failed physical will result in forfeited signing bonus money, league sources told ESPN.
The problem is that some players might not get a physical for months because of travel logistics related to the coronavirus, which has caused teams to shut down their operations for an indefinite period.
If a player signs a three-year, $30 million contract with a $10 million signing bonus this week, for example, but fails a physical in June, he could lose the $10 million and be bound to a three-year, $20 million deal, potentially.

Bill going value shopping again. A cost effective, kill 2 birds with one stone, signing. Replaces Ebner on ST, and can hopefully take a good bit of Harmon’s role on defense. Injured for a significant amount of time last year, but was on the field for 65-70% of the defensive/ST snaps in 2018. Linebacker or TE next, please.

So no RB from the 2015 draft is with his team, it made me wonder if James White is the longest-tenured RB with his current team. It looks to me like he is the only RB from the 2014 draft still with his drafting team. However, Gio Bernard was drafted by the Bengals back in 2013. I think that's it though.
Kinda makes the Michel pick look even weirder IMO

Especially when Sony is a guy with a chronic knee issue as well. Drafting a running back is a total waste of a pick IMO as quality ones can be found anywhere in the draft.

There are two ways to look at it, I think: when you draft a RB, you're not getting a ten-year career. On the other hand, it makes sense to draft running backs because almost all their value is on their rookie contract. Better that than chasing veteran RB contracts. Draft 'em, use 'em, let 'em go in FA.

I agree with you, but much better value in the 2nd round and beyond

Probably, but Michel was the 31st pick, so he's basically a second-rounder anyway. I think the larger issue is they missed the eval with his knees, and rather than his best years being on his rookie contract, his best years were in Athens, GA.

How much will Sony make years 1-4 vs 33rd pick? Just curious

The Rams put on a masterclass in how to yolo and figure it out later. Made basically every move counter to what good roster and cap management should look like. Experts in buying high and selling low

Committed long term to an average QB that was propped up by an elite RB and surrounding cast.

Committed long term to a RB with known knee issues.

Traded every first round pick they’ve had since 2016.

Trading away 2 (2!!) first round picks for a CB that’s going to demand a record setting contract.

If Bill O’Brien weren’t in the NFL, this would be a contender for the worst roster management in football.

And they thought they were on the brink of a great, long run in 2019. They didn't even get one title out of that. Heh.
