California. Duh.
Salah has tied Steven Gerrard for most career goals in the European Cup/Champions League for LIverpool.

Jota is closing in fast, though...

Bayern and Salzburg were tied 2-2 at the 79th minute.

It ended 6-2 Bayern. Ruthless.

Have to give props to Zapata, who has dangerous & hard working the entire second half. That guy did not slow down despite the scoreline.

Fantastic team victory, holding Atalanta to only 6 shots and really never losing control of the match. Really couldn't ask for a better performance heading into Sunday's tilt with City.

Admittedly, this is only back of the napkin math...

If Morata hadn’t left Juventus and VAR wasn’t a thing, he’d be scoring roughly 65 goals per season in all competitions.

y'all heard about how UEFA is starting a third-tier european competition, the Europa Conference League? They couldn't have the name itself not sow confusion.

Giving more teams an opportunity to have international competition and make more money is fine, but obviously this is going to do, as the Brits say, fuck all for the worries about the superclubs forming a superleague.

Looks like we're gonna have all the Americans playing on the same day for the whole group stage. Annoying but a nice problem to have.

Konrad is in now. That’s 2 USMNT players on the pitch for Barca in the Champions League.

Inter self-destructing. Already down 1-0 to Madrid, Vidal goes down in box, no call, argues, gets yellow, continues to argue, gets another yellow.

The real Atalanta showed up - as did a ref who's called absolutely nothing, in either direction. Oddly refreshing from that standpoint, but a rough performance from Liverpool to this point

edit: 0-2 full-time, group is now 9-7-7. Liverpool guarantee qualification if they can beat Ajax at home on Tuesday

Atletico with a disappointing draw at home against Lokomotiv. In the pouring rain with Suarez and Costa, the team lacked that presence up front to take more control of the match. It was an off day for a handful of players -- maybe due to the rain, maybe due to the hangover from beating Barcelona, maybe due to tired players still recovering from the international break.

Atletico now must win against Salzburg to avoid the risk of an early exit.

Atletico doesn't have to win tomorrow versus Bayern to advance to the knock-out stages, but a loss would greatly jeopardize Atleti's chances of moving on.

The good news is that Bayern seems to have decided to rest a handful of players, including Neuer, Lewandowski, and Goretzka. Tolisso, Davies, and Kimmich will also miss the match.

The best result today for Atletico is for Salzburg to beat Locomotiv, as this result reduces the dire need for Atletico to get the victory over Bayern. So far, the Austrians are up 2-0. Hold on!

Huge thanks to the Austrians for taking care of business. With this result, Atletico can qualify for the next round with a victory today -- hopefully, at home and against a mostly B-team, Atletico can earn the win.

It's not Bayern's A team by any definition, but Joao Felix just totally bossed them around that half. Really impressive.

Gini looks like a guy that’s played every minute of every fixture over the last few weeks.

His hammy will pop and get him some time off soon.

Midtjylland holding their lead at Atalanta so far... a result there would be a relief for Liverpool regardless of this outcome

Salah takes a golden chance away from Williams

Kelleher and Williams coming up big to prevent a goal for Mazraoui and followup by Neres

Okay, Onana has now ticked two of my “never” boxes.

1. His remonstrations after the error were unacceptable. You own it and show it to your teammates. You don’t sulk.

2. He exaggerated contact with a fairly little dude. Keepers should be indestructible. Nothing will get in a forward’s head like seeing a keeper take a painful knock and pretend it didn’t happen. Nothing will empower a forward like seeing a keeper is physically or mentally weak. He’s now done both in five minutes.

This guy may knock Ospina out of the starting spot on my Most Pathetic 11.

There's the Firmino of seasons past. Dribbles 3 from the edge of his own area, completes an inch-perfect through ball to Mane that he ultimately can't corral

Atalanta levels it up at 1

Williams gets fouled, ref points for a foul in Liverpool's favor, Neres comes up lame after having committed the infraction, referee gives a foul the other way
