Bucks stop Sixers 109-105 in OT as Giannis recovers from a 4-point first half to finish with 32 while taking over the game. Philly gradually frittered away a 19-point first half lead. Looked tired but somehow erased a 7-point deficit in final minute of regulation.

Seth Curry twisted his always sore left ankle and might be out for awhile. Simmons had a sloppy night with 7 turnovers but swished a three-pointer under duress with two seconds left in OT to make it a two-point game. Go figure. He passed up several open threes. Played great D on Giannis for three quarters. Ended up playing 45 minutes, 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot around 40 percent from field. Awful game to look at.

Brooklyn wins, pulls even with Philly. Milwaukee just one back. 76ers heading to the west coast next week. They will come home as the third seed. With Curry hurt, the Kyle Lowry deal should happen soon.

Harden put up 40/8/15 with only two turnovers, doing it all without KD and Kyrie. Nets are 14-1 in their last 15 games, all without KD. Harden’s not going to win MVP but there’s no player in the league that gives his team such a high floor. He’s putting up 26/9/12 on 64% true shooting with the Nets. Godly numbers.

And: behold the Rockets without him.

Yeah, Harden is going to end up with easily the weirdest MVP case in history. How can somehow he basically destroyed the team he started the season on be considered for MVP?

100%. I'm so impressed with how Harden is playing in Brooklyn -- he is showing himself to be truly great. That said, the whole season counts and while it doesn't count against him that Hou has sucked since he left, but the way he played/they played while he was there is definitely part of the equation. To me, as great as he has been w/ the Nets, that kills his candidacy this year.

Randle has had 34 assists in his last 4 games since they began running the offense through him similar to how the Warriors use Draymond. This kid has never stopped improving since the minute he stepped foot in the league.

WAS/UTA backcourts (Beal + Westbrook + Mitchell + Ingles) combine for 154 points.

Wiz win, 131-122. No idea what’s going on with the Jazz D. Jazz season to date:

4-4
20-1
5-6

Lillard doing it again tonight: 21 points in the first Q on 7-8 shooting (5-6 from three).

Not getting much help from CJ or Trent Jr., who are a combined 0-6.

Edwards really feels like a young Russ from the athleticism to the speed to the seemingly relentless attack mode. He is doing some incredible NBA things of late for a 19 year old.

He’s going to be a real good shooter too once he figures out shot selection and gets in more reps. He’s already dangerous once he gets in a rhythm but still very inconsistent. The mechanics, release and touch are all evident.

Since the break: Edwards, 5 games, 36.0 minutes, 30.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals on .476/.391/.697 shooting. Getting to the line 6.6 times per game.

I doubt he did anything over the break to improve that much, but if he did... damn. Imagine what he'd do with a summer.

Jekyll and Hyde Warriors beat down the Grizz in Memphis without Steph, 116-103

Wiggins 40 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, 4 stl, +24.

Jordan Poole gets the start at PG and drops 25 on 10-15 fg. He’s been quietly great since the end of last season.

LeBron just went down in the Lakers-Hawks game - looks like an ankle injury. (He was literally writhing and rolling around in pain.)

EDIT - and now he's back up and straight back into the game. And of course he hit a three on the Lakers' first possession.
EDIT #2 - and now he's gone to the locker room. Hmmm.

He has a 10 pt streak. I think he's done for the day now

Trae failed to make a single trey today, but he passed the ball well (11 assists), and Collins was a beast - nice bench performance from Gallinari as well. The Lakers without LeBron and Davis were there to be beaten, but you can only beat the teams in front of you, and that's what the Hawks have been very good at doing over the past couple of weeks.

I don't care who they have or haven't beaten. The five seed is a very nice spot for this Hawks team.

Obviously, 8 in a row is good regardless, but of those 8 wins, 7 were games against sub .500 teams in OKC, SAC, ORL, HOU, CLE, ORL, and TOR. The other win was against a MIA team without Butler
You listed ORL twice; actually, 6 of the 8 were against sub-.500 teams, with the Lakers and Miami being the two over .500 teams. The Lakers and Heat were missing key players for some or all of their games, of course - but to be fair, the Hawks have also been without Hunter (and Reddish, and Dunn) throughout the current winning streak. And still...it's not like every team (cough*Celtics*cough) is able to roll straight through lesser opposition night in and night out.

Can Kris Dunn be considered a key player? He hasn't played a minute this entire year

Celtics must have worn out the Kings last night. They trail Philly 42-21 after one quarter. Philly without three starters. Simmons sits with sore left knee. Curry has sprained ankle. And Embiid. Philly visits Knicks tomorrow night so Doc probably chose this game to sit Simmons.

Doubt this is true. They need to finish within a game or two of .500 to be in the playin game. They are currently 28-13, so only need to finish the season playing MIN/DET basketball for the remainder
Who the hell are they going to beat with that roster sans AD and Lebron?

Perhaps nobody. That's the thing though, they can go 0-14 over the next 4 weeks and still be well in the playoff race at 28-28. Then getting AD and Lebron back rested and healthy and well...
Isn’t having your team healthy the biggest issue for every championship contender? Certainly it is for Philly. Doc coaches with that in mind because his two top players are nursing knee problems like soreness and swelling. Obviously, the Lakers have a similar situation with their top two. This is basketball. Even Giannis is one bad landing away from a high ankle sprain.

The busy schedule contributes to this equation. Dreaded back-to-backs are littered all over schedules.

Home-court advantage will be less important in these playoffs, even as states and cities loosen restrictions on crowd size. Seedings carry less weight than in the past, when most teams fought for the highest seed possible. Now in this COVID season teams can finish in the top 10 and play themselves in. Or at least that is how I understand it. Could be wrong.

There is hope for almost everyone right now with the trade deadline looming this week.

LeBron also atypically played in almost every game this season; which was pretty odd given his typical philosophy of getting plenty of rest during the regular season to be primed for the playoffs, especially this year with the more compact schedule and the short-turnaround from the bubble. I think he really did want to win MVP this year.

With LBJ and Embiid missing so much time, who is the MVP leader at this point? If you’re talking most valuable, Harden has been unbelievable, keeping Brooklyn so close to the top while dealing with an injured Durant and the emotionally fragile Irving.

I have Jokic as my MVP, dude is destroying teams. He's averaging something like 27/11/9 on great efficiency.
