The Nets look like contenders in this first quarter, but GS look like a team that haven't played basketball in 9 months.

They paid through the nose to get Oubre but he's the only one really bringing it right now for GS.

So much for the idea that Wiggins might be some sort of fix for the Warriors and an actual trade asset.

They need to bring back those goofy fan screens from the bubble. This atmosphere is terrible.
I felt the same way when I watched the Celtics preseason games. I don't know what it was about the bubble atmosphere, but it seemed lively and fun. Watching them play in empty arenas with no effects like the fan screens is depressing. More so than with football for whatever reason.

It's because you can always see people in the stands when you're watching basketball on TV (and baseball). Not so with football, where you only notice the stands are empty when the camera zooms out (never during live action).

Is there something wrong with the Clippers uniforms? Is it just me, or does it look like all the Clippers are out of shape?

Part of it, but I didn’t find baseball to be as depressing either. Maybe it was because the bubble was during summer and everything seemed a little less depressing at the time. I’m having a hard time getting into the season this year and that never happens.

Weird game; George and Kawhi pretty easily outplayed LeBron and Davis, neither of whom were very good in this game. The supporting cast (mainly Schroder, Kuzma and Harrell) looked really good, which is a good sign for LAL because LeBron and Davis are rarely going to play that badly. Gasol looks COOKED though.

Speaking of cooked, Nic Batum somehow played 28 minutes for the Clippers tonight.

Interestingly, the much maligned George was interviewed by the TNT crew and Shaq went right at him, stating that he could have played better during the bubble. George responded that he is just now feeling better after his two shoulder surgeries. It will be interesting, and scary, if his struggles the last few seasons really were mostly physical. He looked as good as I can recall in recent memory.

I think there was a novelty to summer bubble NBA and hockey and even weird baseball that helped deflect how fucked up it all is. Other than the season starting date this looks just enough like "normal" that the fucked-upness is more front and center.

I'm sure someone will pushback w/ Gasol's 39% 3pt shooting + defensive IQ. BUT Gasol looked cooked all last season (not just playoffs). I chalked it up to a late 2019 Championship run + a 2019 summer World Cup run with Spain. Father Time is undefeated... unless he plays Bron.

I'll be keeping a casual eye on Gasol's game this season.
