Miami looks like they haven't missed a step since the bubble. They're gonna be dangerous this year.

Zion for all his athleticism has had multiple close outs where he looks like he's going half speed, leading to by my count two Iggy threes and one from Robinson.

Standard caveats about young guys, but I’m really not sold on Zion defensively. I guess he almost has to get a decent amount better just from experience though.

It was the entire Pelican defense that made Miami look like they were in a layup line. 3Q they have locked in and the Heat can’t get any clean looks. The Pels have the ability to defend well it’s about the effort and if they can sustain that effort when Adams, Ball and Bledsoe are on the bench.

Wiseman has been Golden State's best player. Really impressed by his stroke.

Wiseman has swished his first three NBA threes.

1st half tonight: 12 minutes, 14 pts (4-5 fg, 4-4 ft), 4 rebounds, 2 blocks.

He makes Giannis look small. He's gonna be a problem.

Edit: Giannis 4-11 from the stripe, also becoming a potential problem.

Warriors' non-Steph/Wiseman players are also a problem. If Curry doesn't get 30+ its going to be tough to win, especially in the west.

Having Draymond will help, but yeah. Oubre can't be as bad as he's been tonight, can he...?

Wiggins is just not a good NBA player. Strange anyone went out of their way to take him off Minnesota's hands.

He's only 25 but this is NBA season number 7 for him. I don't see any reason to think he is going to make some jump at this point.

Wiseman has looked promising, Curry will still be good, and Oubre is not this bad. But overall this is not a very good team, fringe playoffs at best.

Fringe playoffs might be generous. I feel bad for Steph, but it's delightful that Lacob is paying out his nose for this team after acting like the smartest guy in the room.

There is something glorious in watching the arrogant and smug face some failure. There must be a German word for that.

I'm seeing preseason over/unders putting them around the 8 seed. That seems on the optimistic side to me but I think with Draymond back the 7-10 range is reasonable.

Couple pretty bad teams at the bottom of the west, I don't think GS will be down there.

You'll be singing a different tune when the Warriors get the #1 and #4 picks in next year's stacked draft! :)

Forget Durant and Kyrie.....this Brooklyn 2nd unit may not only be the best in the league but arguably the best of all-time. If they stay focused on the task at hand omg they look tough early on.

Yes. They're so deep. Obviously nobody can predict health, but I don't think the Lakers are prohibitive favorites over them. Certainly not to the level that NBA media was hyping them.

Was thinking how this Nets team compares favorably to Kyries championship team in 2016. Obviously you have the uncertainty of how personalities mesh, whether the young’s will be content in their roles, and you have a rookie head coach but......

Durant instead of LeBron as running mate. DeAndre/Allen at 5 vs Tristan/Frye. Dinwiddie/Harris vs Love/JR. The real disparity however comes with LeVert, Shamet, JGreen and Prince over Dellavedova, Shumpert and 35-yr version of Richard Jefferson.

Was it tonight’s 10/3/2 performance on 4-9 shooting that inspired this post?
In 23 minutes. In the previous game, he had 30 but that game went into overtime. I'm not using that as excuse for him only having 10/3/2. I'm saying he's so "good" he isn't even getting 30 minutes a game.

I'm a fan and think he'll be a very good rotation player and maybe even a star, but he probably has the most helium in the league right now. He has the measurements and tools to be a 2 way player and if his shooting to date is real... he has the potential to match the helium. Just not there yet.

On another note, maybe that fork in Batum isn't as big as I thought.

The one point of the game where the C's had an edge last night was in the 2nd Q. against the Nets 2nd unit. Levert had 7 turnovers that offset some impressive drives, and he's the alpha in that group. I'm not buying into the hype just yet.

Interesting rotations from Nash last night, KI and Durant always came on and off the court together, rather than trying to keep one of them on the floor.

I think it was right in the stretch when he buried a three, got a nice dunk, made a smart steal and had a monster block (waived off on a foul by another player) in about a 2 minute stretch. His ability is amazing, but that DEN team isn't using him much with their roster/rotation, he's well behind Jokic and Murray for obvious reasons, and they're trying to keep Harris and Barton happy with touches too, so he just isn't getting the opportunities. If he were on the Bulls or Hawks or something he'd be putting up 30/7/4 every night on good percentages

That seems extremely optimistic but LaVine does close to that. It assumes Porter would hold up over 36 minutes at the same efficiency he does in 25.

I'm also not sure why Denver continues to stick with Gary Harris other than they paid him. He should be the one sacrificing playing time to Porter. Barton is fine.

Really, really nice Hawks win tonight against a Grizzlies team that had just outplayed them twice in quick succession at the end of the preseason. Huerter at one point I think was 8-8 from the field and finished with 21 points; I think he is destined to be an impact bench scorer in the NBA rather than a starter, but he plays that role perfectly. Trae had kind of an anonymous 36-point game, if that's possible? (In fairness, he definitely got some calls - finished 15-17 at the line - whereas Morant did not.) Nathan Knight of all people had 14 points in 9 minutes off the bench, including an inbound alley-oop and one off a Trae dish. And all of that without Capela, Gallinari, Okongwu, Dunn or Rondo, and with Bogdanovic shooting 2-10 for only 7 points; this team has some serious depth. Delighted to have had a chance to watch them here in the UK tonight and see them go to 2-0 on the season!

George Hill looked awesome tonight on the Thunder. 8/9 field goals, 4-4 from three in 24 minutes. He might be a good pick-up for a contender.
First contender willing to give up 3 unprotected picks and 2 swaps gets him.

Fat, out of shape James Harden about to go for 30+ with 12 assists against Portland. Skeleton crew for Houston but its a close game in the fourth. IDK what happened to Christian Wood but the dude is a monster now. Harden looks good playing with some real bigs again.

Harris is one of the leagues best defensive guards. He made an impact in the bubble without having to score at all. He’s pretty much the antithesis of Porter on what they bring to a team.
