UN. REAL. I was breaking into sweats just thinking of trying to have to make that shot in a friendly round.

“Beautifully played” may have been an overstatement by Faxon. (Or whoever said it. Thought it was Faxon.)

However, in the fairway, which is all he needed.

Brooks parred the last 6 holes. Meltdown?
Brooks din't meltdown, but he also didn't play well starting with an atrocious 2nd shot on 6. Then misses short putt on 7. Disaster 2nd shot on 8. Poor second shot on 9. Poor tee shot on 12. Poor Tee shots on 13 and 14 (poor wedge on 14) , poor tee shot on 15.

I was surprised to see him not go driver on 18, knowing he needed Eagle.

He needed to be in the fairway to have any shot at eagle and the 3-wood was enough club to get him an iron in while not having to worry as much about missing the fairway. He did say after that it left him an awkward distance and he tried to loft his 3 iron a bit but it came out too hot.

Agreed, definitely not a meltdown, but he has shown he’s at least part human.

That was a good, but not great US Open. We got a likable winner with a great story, the course visually looked amazing, a few big names in contention throughout the tournament and while Sunday did not have as much drama as most would have liked it did have it's share of Wow moments - Woodlands 3 wood!

I think it's a little unfortunate that the course played soft. I wish there had been some wind this week to dry out the greens a bit and affect some shots. In my opinion there were far too many red numbers out there on all four days. While the course did at times show it's teeth a -13 winner at the US Open isn't exactly what I'm hoping to see.
It was a good, fun tournament but needed a little more drama, a little more difficulty and a lot more Tiger.

Agree about the course playing too vanilla. Winged Foot next year should be good.
