Well, I wish there was a natural weight class for Michelle because I think she's greatly outsized in most of her matches. She has amazing drive.

Greg Hardy using an inhaler between rounds 2 and 3. Completely illegal.

Edit: and after winning the decision, the UFC did not give him an in-ring interview. Wouldn’t be surprised if the fight is changed to a NC.

Sucks to your asthma Hardy.

Just catching up after I dvr'd the show earlier. I like Friday night UFC fights, especially on regular old ESPN channels. My internet sucks.

Couple of simple observations.

1) Maycee Barber might actually be up to the hype. I don't remember ever seeing her on the ground though. Maybe she sucks there.
2) Hardy is an idiot. His fighting ability seems to be improving, but I don't think he'll ever improve on the idiocy.
3) Rodriguez-Stephens 2nd try lived up to expectations. I'm disappointed we couldn't see it go five rounds. I don't how Stephens survived early in round 2. What a badass.

Agreed on all four points

Finally watched this, and it was very entertaining. I've seen numbered UFC events recently that were weaker.

I hadn't heard f Maycee Barber before tonight, but it looks like she's ready to be a force in the UFC. She's one of the few girls I'v seen who throws heavy hands and is a legitimate knock out threat. And @EvilEmpire, I watched some of her fights on YouTube tonight, and she doesn't look to be a slouch on the ground at all. She has a couple submission finishes, and one of the fights I saw, she bested her opponent on the ground who was constantly trying to take her down as the ground was her specialty. Flexible, stong legs, good D, and always looking for submission angles. Oh, and she has a bit of a mouth & attitude, so she's going to be a great self-promoter. Very much looking forward to more of her fights.

I haven't seen the last couple Greg Hardy fights. Controversy and competition level aside, what surprised me was how greatly he's improved since the last time I saw him. He's actually playing D now, has pretty good footwork, has added some (heavy) high and low leg kicks to his arsenal, is feinting a lot and just fighting much more methodically in general, which is important because obviously he's not going to be able to knock everyone out in 30 seconds, especially against tougher competition. He even threw a Superman punch in there for good measure (but didn't connect). He's obviously working very hard at this.

Also haven't seen Yair in a while. He's always so fun to watch due to his vast array of kicks. Stephens is one tough SOB.

I think he fights and that this is just his way of venting about (what could be) tainted supplements. Diaz would rather raise the profile of a contentious issue and deal with it head on than try to hide it. At least I think that has been his MO.

Maia submits askren. Ben has been a flop.
It’s a shame too because he’s obviously very popular. His carefree attitude is something you don’t really see around the league so it’s something different. He would be very useful as one of its stars. I wonder how his fortunes might have been different if he joined the UFC closer to his prime, or if his record is merely a mirage created by feasting on inferior competition.

This news is a few days old at this point, but Conor McGregor has announced that he wishes to treat 2020 like a "season" and wants to fight 3 times. Yeah...I'll believe that when I see it. The guy is a walking distraction. But it does appear that he's slated to fight again circa January. Ariel Helwani reports that Cowboy Cerrone and Justin Geathje are front runners for for his competition. Cerrone has been rumored for quite some time now, and he seems like a good "tune up" fight for Conor. Relatively low-risk, high-profile fight. It seems to me that it would make sense for the UFC to try to get Conor a win before he moves on to Diaz III or Khabib II.

Yeah I saw those clips and was curious what people though. I guess he went through all his Mayweather money. That clip of him slipping a bottle that went 5 feet over his head was hilarious. I hope he continues losing to the point even his bs self promotion can’t claim any sort of mystique or ability.

Askren should be 0-3. Lawler was going to kill him before Dean called it. No reason to think he can hang with the UFC's best. Curious to see how long his leash is.

I think the Lawler fight was called early, but it’s hard to say Robbie was going to kill him. It looked like he blew his load early and was not in a great position, whether he’d actually been submitted or not.

His leash is probably a bit longer. He has a ton of fans because of his personality. He can't be headlining cards at this point though, I wouldn't think.

While Lawler probably had Askren slightly unconscious at one point, I don't think you can say he would have killed him. The momentum had definitely turned.

Maybe I need to go back and rewatch it, but I remember Askren being a bloody mess and looking like he wasn't all there, even after the fight was over. Lawler could have punched himself out and Askren could have controlled the fight on the ground for the reminder of it, but I doubt it. I think Lawler was on his way to knocking him out.

Edit: I just rewatched it, I’m more or less comfortable with my description of it. I wouldn’t say there had been any real momentum shift. Askren had his back for a brief moment before Lawler got out of it. Lawler wasn’t punched out either. Credit to Askren for surviving what I’m sure was the most difficult first round of his career and not going out, but he wasn’t going to win that fight.

Yeah on Askren I don't think it has to do with his ability. It's much more the competition and unpredictability. In the UFC 170 is a war zone -- he's fought no one easy. I think he beat Lawler and Masvidal was a bit of a fluke. I still have to watch the Maia one tho. He's probably feeling some urgency given his age.

I think we've seen some changes with USADA. I'm not sure if they've public said it, but USADA isn't ruining cards and careers like they were in the beginning. It's funny to me that Nick -- a vegan -- has elevated test. Given me the name of that B12 or soy protein supplement. I don't think he'd be fighting if this it was 2016.

I'm glad Diaz is fighting because I like Masvidal in this one a lot. Not sure what odds you guys are seeing but I don't see many ways Diaz wins this one and the odds I'm seeing don't reflect that.

I thought the test was from taking SARMs?

I agree to a point with Askren. It’s hard to tell a ton from flash knockouts. Like when McGregor beat Aldo. Maybe Conor wins that fight 7/10 times, but it’s not like it showed Aldo wasn’t championship level.

I thought it was a contaminated multivitamin. I didn't research it tho, just saw it on twitter.

Yeah fights under 20 seconds are hard to judge. Zigano and Ronda is another example. If Masvidal missed and ended up on the bottom it could have been just as over

That fight is only low risk for Connor if Cowboy decides to strike with him. Cowboy is an absolute killer on the ground with a top notch submission game.

How is McGregor's takedown defense? I know he's a pretty elite striker in the MMA world - his left is bonkers.

Why would anyone want to go punch-for-punch with him? All of his losses have come via submission.

The McGregor fight I'd really like to see is with Gaethje. Or more specifically, I'd like to see Gaethje beat his ass.

I'll settle for Cowboy choking him out though.

Cowboy won't take him down. If they have a brain they'll have Conor ready for when Khabib and Tony falls through.

Diaz punched him out and Khabib arguably did too

What do you mean "punched him out"? Conor was very clearly out striking Diaz in the first fight before fading, and did so in the second fight as well.

It seems like its en vogue to shit on Conor's abilities here, and sure, over the past 3 years he hasn't won...but the Mcgregor who became the double champ was worth the hype and praise he got.

Now, if you want to say that because of his lifestyle his skills have probably been diminished to where he's no longer one of the best, I think thats reasonable. But if he can get back to his best, he starches Cerrone worse than Gaetjhe did.

In the first fight, Diaz was outstriking him, which is why Conor went to the ground.

In the second, I had the fight pretty even but Diaz winning. I could see it going the other way.

Diaz is a good striker and was the bigger man, but he’s not a top fighter.

Conor is really good with distance and angles, and has good power and speed, but his head movement and reflexes have always been average at best.

Despite Diaz being the materially larger man, I thought Conor punched himself out in the first fight, by virtue of fighting up a weight class and not having his wind at that size. It was apparent from his unwillingness to continue leg kicking, which was working but requires serious cardio and commitment. That’s when Diaz started working him, IMHO.

Leg kicks were the biggest difference in the second fight. And Diaz can be great at checking them, as evidenced by what he did to Pettis.

Yes. To be fair to Diaz and to be harsh on Conor, he literally gassed himself out in one round so I'm not sure the first fight is anything to go by.

In the second fight, I don't understand how anyone thinks Diaz won. Conor clearly won rounds 1, 2, and 4. Knocking Diaz down 3 times during the first two rounds. Watch the fight on mute, so you put aside Rogan's biased commentary towards his boy Nate.

Diaz is an entertaining fighter, and so is Masvidal, so I have no problem with this main eventing the card. But I think any of the elite 170 lb fighters beat either of them easily.

The whole card is great though and has a lot of story lines. Kevin Lee is training with Firas Zahabi, Gillespie is undefeated. Darren Till moving up and fighting Gastelum in his first fight at MW. Johnny Walker taking on someone who can actually fight back.

I think this might be a 6 fight PPV card. Originally they had Lee vs Gillespie as headlining the prelims. But then Walker vs Anderson got moved there and Lee/GG was moved to the main card. But now Walker is on the first two embeddeds and most graphics I've seen show all six fights.

Lee went on a tear in 2016 and 2017 before losing to Tony Ferguson (while battling Staph) in October of 2017. His head trainer, Robert Follis, committed suicide in December that year and Lee never looked the same after that. He dominated Edson Barbosa but his striking defense was non existent in that fight and he was almost finished despite winning every round.

He underestimated Al Iaquinta who, lets be honest, isn't as talented as Lee but showed more heart and made Lee look bad. Then he went up in weight class to 170 and was overmatched by Dos Anjos.

I'm glad he's back at 155 but more importantly I'm glad he's training with Zahabi. He's spoke at length about how Follis' suicide affected him and while he wants to stay loyal to that team, he's too talented not to train with the best. I was hoping he'd go to AKA to train with DC but I guess that would be too close to Khabib. I really like Lee and think he's a championship level talent.

Crazier to me is Darren Till moving up and having Gastellum be his first fight. Look at Weidman and Rockhold...take an easy fight first bro.

On the scorecard it says submission but Nate hid a huge left behind a little right and put Conor out on his feet. Nate won with his hands.

I think this is it. Until he wins again he's going to get shit on. People overreact to what they saw last. I'm guilty of it myself with Ronda, but learning that has evolved they way I look at all this. Conor is a force at 145 because he's bigger and his standup is overwhelming. At 55 he's smaller and can't overwhelm the bigger guys. Without the overwhelming standup his weaknesses get tested more so he get taken down or dragged into deep water.

For me I think the Conor is done as a champion. I don't think the fire that got him to the top is there anymore. I could be misremebering but from what I remember watching it would take years of hard work for Conor to turn the tables on Khabib and make it a stand up fight. And he doesn't just have to work hard, he has to work harder than khabib is working in order to catch up. It's so much easier to just count money and take exciting fights.

He was also on antibiotics for staph in the first fight. You could see him hit a wall not too far into the fight.

Conor has always had bad stamina. He could barely move the last two rounds in the second Diaz fight and was sucking air hard early against Floyd.

Even if this is true, Connor’s round 4 against Nate in the second fight is one of the best examples of grit and heart in a fight I’ve ever seen. He definitely won 1,2 & 4, but I was certain he was finished at the end of 3.

I am also excited to see Lee fight again now that he is at TriStar, that guy is fucking talented.

Same for the last few rounds with Floyd. It’s just kind of a chicken and the egg thing. It’s hard to give a guy credit for showing heart in the ring after blowing off training beforehand.

Really fun card tonight boys. In a WWE-like move, the winner of Masvidal / Diaz will get a "Baddest Mother Fucker" (BMF) belt.

Oh, and Trump will be in attendance.

I'm using http://yoursports.stream/live?v=ufc

I think last time you had trouble with this one, but it's golden. You did something wrong. You have to be careful with these streaming sites because deceitful ads are what allows them to exist. Rule #1: Never click on anything that says "download" - it's never necessary. Rule #2: Click all of the small white "X" boxes until all the overlay ads go away. Then click play and enjoy. It's a formula which almost universally works.

When Gastellum weighed in, it looks like he had his elbow resting on one of his coaches. He had stripped down already and was under by like a pound too, I think.

Ah ok. Thanks. I kept watching his hands on the towel because I remember one dude looked like he had displaced some weight onto a towel once to make weight and missed the elbow.

Is Gastellum always so chubby? I feel like he used to be more ripped.
