Not even close on being similar to a Jones fight. They combined to land 60 significant strikes in a 5 round 50-45 on all cards fight. Carmouche landed 18 significant strikes. They were each looking to counter and no one initiated action. There were points in the fight where it looked like Carmouche was shadow boxing with her punches a good 3 feet away from connecting. Neither adapted at all as the fight went on and rounds 4 and 5 were more maddening for the fact that Carmouche was well behind and did nothing to change the pace of the fight. Horrible main event after an fun co-main where Perry's nose was re-positioned by a great knee from Luque.

Thats awful. Thats like SHAMROCK/SEVEREN rematch where the commission said it was illegal to punch with a closed fist

"The legal drama dragged on till 4:30 PM on the day of the event, May 17, 1996, when the courts had reached a decision to allow the UFC to hold their event in Detroit... with a few rule changes. The judge had decided that the fights could go on, but only if headbutts and closed fists were not used. Surprisingly, Meyrowitz agreed to this, but UFC referee "Big" John McCarthy, who was in court to help the judges understand the rules better, was completely flabbergasted."

That is so egregiously cheap by McGregor. He's a world class fighter, so he has to know his punches can do literal damage. That is garbage. There is obviously something wrong with the guy.

I wonder if there’s a worse form of publicity for a whisky company than video of its owner punching an Irishman who refused a free drink.

Don’t blame the old man, though. Proper 12 tastes like spoiled licorice.

Thoughts on tonight’s card? I’m tempted to throw some cash on Stipe, but it’s so hard to bet against DC.

Great card. They have three fights I want to see which is roughly three more than normal.

I like Diaz because he's a dog, like Gay Jesus a little too. In the main it's tough because I don't really know how Stipe viewed the first fight. I think if he thought it was a fluke he'll lose again, but if he worked on his mistakes and tries to fight his fight (stay at distance, jab heavy, stand-up fight) then he'll do well.

I'd wait to place any bet until I know they're in the big cage.

That’s a good point re Stipe. I don’t know if DC caught him just right or he really does have insane power when he doesn’t cut, but I thought Stipe normally had a good chin, so I’d assume he’ll be less likely to engage in close and use his range and lateral movement more this fight.

Yeah, great card. DC/Stipe, Diaz coming back after 3 years will once again test the ring rust theory, and I can't wait to see the two juicers go at it.

I am shocked that Stipe came in at 230 lbs. I get that he wants to be faster but he was a monster at 246 and truth be told looked really good in the last fight until he got caught.

This is the card of the year though. I threw a $20 parlay on DC, Diaz, and Yoel. Would be happy to be wrong about a Stipe though, but really both guys in the main event are the class of the sport.

It was so strange. Stipe got caught by Overeem and Ngannou before and shook them off. We’ll see tonight.

Wait, wut? I did not know that. He has no reason to cut weight, but 230 isn't much heavier than Jon Jones natural weight

Yeah that’s nuts. Dude got knocked out on one punch and decided to come in lighter? Unless he really plans to just stick and move 5 rounds.

@djbayko what're the sweetest odds you’ve seen on Stipe across your 25 betting platforms?

I wasn't really tracking it. But this is my go-to site for MMA odds & odds history. It doesn't list every site but includes most of the main ones plus all of the various props. Looks like he opened at around +130 and never got much better. You can still get +125 at 5Dimes though.

Not betting? You okay man?

Not sure a bet on Stipe is worth it if he’s just +125 st best.

I have $250 sprinkled across several prop bets. I'm barely +EV at MMA - probably closer to break even - so I usually don't bet much on it. I will occasionally put a couple grand on a single fight if something really catches my eye, but I'm usually just viewing for entertainment, not profit.

Just rewatched the first fight. I forgot how freely DC teed off on Stipe's head the entire first round leading up to the eventual knock out.

What was that great mma stream site? I just hate giving espn my money.
Does ESPN have anything to do with this? Doesn't matter. I won't judge.

www.reddit.com/r/mmastreams has been shut down. Many from that community moved to https://mmastreampass.com - a server outside of US jurisdiction, but I find that the quality of streams being posted there is inferior to old Reddit.

These days I've just been going to http://yoursports.stream/live?v=ufc and catching a good stream with only 1 ad click thru.

Mmasportspass was what I was thinking of, but requires a log in and cc info now. Found something on vip sports box.

I wish I looked like Romero when I was 26.

I also wish I looked like Costa. That’s a handsome dude.

I’ll never get how Romero was an Olympic wrestler but always gets winded in his fights. You’d think his conditioning would be supreme, even with all the muscle.

Really? I think Costa's dominance early got him Rd 2 easily. Rd 1 I can see going either way but probably should be Costa.
Thought round 2 was pretty much split like 2:30 each. I think Romero is playing hurt a lot to lure Costa in. Kinda staggering and flopping.

Those uppercuts are nice for Romero. And I love how he’s switching seamlessly. Haven’t seen him this fluid before.

Wow. I don’t mind Costs winning 2-1, but I’m shocked it was unanimous. Only clear round was 3 for Romero.

Huh? Judes scored it unanimously 2 rounds to 1. I think you're fine with that, unless I misunderstand.
I just meant I’m shocked all 3 judges had it 2-1 for Costa. Would’ve thought someone would’ve given the first or second round to Romero in addition to the third.

I had it 2-1 and I thought it was fairly easy to score
I"m with you. It's tough to rope-a-dope in 3 rounds. Yoel dominated the 3rd but his turnaround in the second half of Rd 2 wasn't quite enough.

I will say one thing. Being against the cage with a fresh Costa in front of you is probably the last place anyone should want to be. Everything he does is violent.
