Damn. Ouch.

There’s still a lot of weak talent at the top of some women’s divisions. Jessica couldn’t stand up for shit.

Wow. Moraes is one of the most fluid strikers I’ve ever seen. Especially for a muscular dude.

What a fight! MM needs to move his head. He keeps it stationary and Cejudo is finding him now.

Wow. Cejudo is tough. Most anyone else would’ve quit after round 1. He went harder.

I like this dude.

That was a great fight. Henry is a tough SOB. His left leg was wrecked early.

Cejudo is so goofy and awkward when it comes to doing interviews, TUF, and meeting whatever other promotional responsibilities he has. Comes off as a try-hard. Easy to get the impression that he really isn't that good a fighter. Not gritty or tough. But he is.

Hmm I’ve only heard him after these last two fights, but I like his mic work there.

Yeah, I followed along on mmajunkie play-by-play tonight, so I didn't see that. I'm going by what I've seen in the past, and mostly when he was coaching TUF. Good for him if he's improved. I know he's talented. Going though DJ (2nd time?), TJ and now MM is damn impressive.

Yeah, I’d be interested to hear what you think if you find the footage.

Beyond the talent, I’m just so impressed by the will and mental strength. He had no answers in the first round, said fuck it, but down hard, went forward and took his man out.

He did get kind of lucky that Moraes inexplicably allowed him to knee him in the face a few dozen times. WTF?

Henry, in general, is not good at talking. I did not listen to the post fight.

Yeah. That Thai clinch stupidity was odd, as was Moraes refusal to either move his head or parry Cejudo’s straight rights. I don’t know if he’s too tough for his own good - he didn’t seem phased by any of the strikes, so much as he just ran out of gas. Not sure if that was the weight cut or the knees to the body or just being ill prepared.

Yeah, it seemed like some combination of fatigue and not knowing what to do in that type of clinch - probably more of the former than the latter. Still though, you can't just let that happen. He was toast after a few of those hits.

I just watched it on youtube. I still think he started off awkward, but improved as he went along.

Talking about the actual fight and the callouts he made afterward were fine. Didn't care for the bit about overcoming adversity with his ankle before this fight and oh yeah, he had some adversity when he fought Demetrious Johnson before too. The triple C bit wasn't too bad, I guess.

I get the sense that when he's talking he's trying really hard to work through a checklist in his head that has too many items on it. A shorter list might work better for him. But still, he was better than I remember.

With regard to his willpower and mental toughness, I totally agree. Another way that Olympic pedigrees matter?

Absolutely why Olympic pedigrees matter, but you see how some people are so talented they can get to the top without ever being challenged, and when they are, they fold.

Good point on the checklist. I guess the triple c and the callout stuff was scripted. And I don’t get talking about injuries, especially if you won.

Still, it’s gotta be hard to perform on a mic after an actual grueling fight.

I really like Cejudo but that who Ali crew is cringe all the time. Cejudo, when he's not trying to promote, is likeable and very humble...even in his post fight press conference he said all the right things about his opponent.

But when he starts promoting it comes off as so fake.

Pretty good card. Was going to go to a little watch party but figured I’d hang with SoSH instead.

Does Santos have much of a chance*? He has power, sure. But can he move well enough to get in there and use it?

*any chance at all?

Hopefully Marciano can answer this: when a guy moves up a weight class and puts on some muscle, that means his chin got stronger too, right?

I'm pretty, pretty sure it is supposed to work that way. Though maybe Blachowicz isn't the right guy to test that.

You talking chin in terms of one shot pops or in terms of ability to take damage when fatigued?

If you’re not cutting, you should be more durable. But I don’t think you can really work your chin. It helps to do trap and neck work to make your head bobble less when you get rocked, but it’s generally like power - you kinda got it or you don’t.

Weaker when you cut weight because there is fluid around your brain

That’s the bro science I’m comfortable dropping
