The first ESPN UFC card is comin up. How I understand this is the early prelims are gonna be on an app, then the prelims are gonna be on TV, and finally they go back to the app for the main card. Not sure but I don't get it if that's the case.

Also Rogan and Schaub discussed the Jon Jones situation of his podcast today and it was pretty good. It's the last time I need to hear about it given they're both well informed and come at it from opposite sides.

Fighting someone I've never heard of. He's 6-0 vs someone I've never heard of.

Who are you betting? I like TJ, PVZ, and maybe Roberson,
I haven't bet anything yet except for some Hardy props when they first came out at somewhat reasonable prices. My assumption is they want to give him someone he can stomp on to build him up for future cards, and what little information that's out there on this guy doesn't lead me to believe anything different.

TJ is so sucked down. He looks worse than 145 lb Conor. Only thing that has me wondering about betting on him but I have too much confidence in his decision making. Also Cejudo brought a stuffed snake on stage -- probably the lowest point in UFC history -- so I can't see him winning.

What a first round war that was. Texeira looked like he was out cold from the elbows. Body just collapsed, then he recovers, Takes the guy down and submits him!

I’m at a bar watching!! Shocking Hardy is a piece of shit.
I know that's going to be the narrative, but it very well could have been inexperience. Instincts tell you to throw that knee in a fight.

Whatever the case, Dana White must be happy. That's just about as good as a Hardy win for him. Eyeballs.

Ha, yeah something like that happened to this dude in the semis of the Golden Gloves one year I was fighting. He got gassed and started throwing knees. It was hilarious.

I see what happened now. I thought there must have been a shot that led to TJ falling down, but it came just after that.

Dana looked like he does when Woodley wins lol

UFC gotta cut Hardy after that

Guys taunting you and taking you down and you respond by kneeing him illegally in the head. Cool, you're trash.

You're out of your mind if you think they're cutting him. This is the league that celebrated Conor's bus incident in promotional material. That just made Hardy a hotter commodity.

Hardy can’t fight for shit. Dude wouldn’t make it to the second round of a local boxing tournament. He throws like an idiot. Cut him.

How stiff are the drinks at that bar? ;)

I think we’re talking about two separate things: whether Marciano thinks they should cut him, and whether the UFC will cut him.

I drink straight liquor. But why keep him. He has no potential or innate talent and he’s a scumbag. Are they that desperate?

I think people will pay to see him gas out and get punched in the face because he's a dead-eyed scumbag.

Because of the fireworks. He’s throws bombs for 60 seconds and now has proven to be a DQ wild card. He has a name, a history, and people will watch. It’s not about purity of the sport.

I do not think the Dillishaw stoppage was early at all. Watching some of the replays his head was bouncing around from those shots. If the ref didn't call it then, he would have called it 30 seconds later.

Hardy will not be cut and they'll chalk it up to inexperience. I don't care either way but because of his past it will be rewarding to see someone knock him out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the nasty weight cut made a difference there. He folded pretty easily.

Agreed. Though its interesting to me that, looking back, he's gotten tagged in almost every fight recently. Certainly in the two Garbrandt fights, this one, Cruz pieced him up but has no power. I guess Lineker didn't touch him because that was a pretty flawless victory but it's something to think about. Cody has a lot more power than Cejudo and TJ shook those off (though was saved by the bell in the first fight), so the weight cut must have affected him.

I agree with you. The more worrying possibility is if TJ now become chinny after the Cody fights. Chuck Liddell said this happened to him after some wars.

Any time a fighter thinks he is fighting the ref, I have a tough time thinking the stoppage was early.
I see some fans out there parroting Dana’s early stoppage BS. It was clear in real time and on replay - he got whallopped almost as badly as Cyborg. The ref gave him several chances, he couldn’t stay on his feet as a result of his brain being shut off momentarily, and he turtled on the ground with his opponent raining bombs on his skull. What more do you want?

I thought the stoppage was early, but I’m happy as hell for Henry and all of the other flyweights.

For Hardy, I was a little surprised that elite NFL defensive lineman skills didn’t translate in terms of hand fighting and body positioning in close spaces. Marciano mentioned the big looping punches, but the complete lack of grappling awareness and flow by Hardy was obvious. He was very much at the thinking of things one move at a time stage.

I personally don't see it being chinny as much as HC simply doing a great job of not letting TJ off the hook after he did catch him.

Dana crying early stoppage for obvious reasons, starting with the fact that the guy who he would of loved to see win that fight didn't, was pretty comical though. TJ was in Lala Land after that left hit. As Zomp already basically pointed out above the only thing up for grabs at that point was a bunch of unnecessary extra head shots.

That said I was admittedly shocked by the outcome. Was figuring TJ would walk right through him.

In his defense, the nfl conditioning didn’t seem to translate either. I’m sure that didn’t help his putzing around on the ground.

On Hardy’s power - the ko highlight package shows him sleeping guys with giant windup full body punches. Pretty much anyone can knock out anyone when they get to just throw and land huge haymakers.

It’s why oftentimes you’ll see someone who looks murderous on a heavy bag that can’t do squat in a ring when they have to move and counter and set up their punches against an unpredictable target. Guys with real power and getting knockouts not on huge windmill punches, but on their crosses or 5” uppercuts.

Maybe his opponent last night has an all world chin, but Hardy didn’t appear to have that in ring power.

Great MMA writer / annoying Seahawks fan Mookie Alexander pointed out how incredibly similar this loss for TJ was to his loss to Jon Dodson several years ago, right down to Punch drunk TJ getting stopped in the middle of what looked like a fairly legitimate single leg as he tried to survive.

I still think the stoppage was too quick. I feel like the refs had more reason to stop Glover’s fight last night when he was on bottom getting pounded out early in the first round last night.

"NFL conditioning" lol

Agreed with GF on the linemen skills. There were points in the fight where the other guy looked like an offensive tackle but Hardy didn't do anything about it. He's certainly not very good at fighting, but I expected some NFL muscle memory to kick in.

The heavyweight division is so different. What's sloppy and loopy for a middleweight is pretty decent at HW. Just being as big and athletic as Hardy is makes him a contender. I think that's what could have happened with the knee too. In a lightweight fight it's legal because the other fighter is up from his knees at that point, but the much slower heavyweights have no shot. Hardy said he was trying to catch him while he was getting back up, which normally would have made sense and worked but that guy wasn't even close to think about getting up from what I saw.

I agree the weight cut made the difference for TJ. Bisping said the stoppage was both early and just, and I agree. The fight wasn't a ending any other way at that point. The next fight should absolutely be at 35. It's not fair to Cejudo to rematch it at 25. Also I heard if TJ won the plan was to call out Holloway so maybe TJ threw this one to avoid being a homicide?

WILL they cut him? No obviously not. this is a morally bankrupt company.

SHOULD they cut him? 100%. he illegally kneed a guy in the temple on purpose. he has zero business being in UFC.
