I have a customer from St Louis, he's a diehard Blues fan, has had season tickets since they came into the league, former St. Louis police officer, he's a nice guy in a midwestern hayseed sort of way.
Much to my surprise, he started trolling me after game 2, sending smart ass emails and links to videos, then he tells me "You have no idea how huge this is in St. Louis, we have a lot of die hard, knowledgeable fans out here, hockey is a pretty big deal, plus not sure if you've heard, but we've got a local kid from St. Louis on the team"...……...
Good Lord.
I told him "Yeah, well hockey is a pretty big deal in Boston, the 70's Bruins took this town by storm and it's been hockey crazy ever since, not sure if you heard, but the Bruins are an original six team...……...........……...and oh yeah, I know all about your local hero, the goon that he is, the announcers only mention the fact that he's from St. Louis every 17 seconds during the broadcast"...…………..
I wonder if the die hard, knowledgeable fans in St Louis he's referring to are the ones they showed on the broadcast last night in their 40's and 50's waddling into the arena with their favorite Blues player sweaters on, shoehorning themselves into a medium because all the XXXL sizes were gone.
No disrespect, but if you're in your 20's/30's and want to wear a sweater to the game, have at it; but after a certain age, you look like a toolbag crammed into a NHL sweater, it's not a good look for older fans, leave the sweaters to the younger guys, much better look for them than for a guy who hasn't seen his feet since the Carter administration.
Funny; no trolling from him about the game last night so far today.
What a game, total domination from start to finish, what an answer.
