I'd first like to thank veritas for a post that was far more constructive than what I almost posted yesterday. Being that down on this team after an 8 game winning streak in the playoffs is just... wow. I know some of us lost our shit in the game thread, but man that was a well thought out destruction of a core group of players who have won a Cup and been to 3 finals now, that was completely undeserved (I know the players don't come on here and read this, but... man).

They may lose this series. It's completely possible. St Louis is definitely not as bad as the 2nd and 3rd periods of game 1 indicated. But the Bruins had their worst game of the post season, and it took overtime to beat them. I think the fact that the Schwartz/Schenn/Tasenko line is dominating is a point of concern, because one of the reasons the Bruins got here is by not allowing the other team's top line to dominate, whether it be with Bergy's line on the them or Kuraly's. They need to figure out how to slow those guys down.

Losing Grz sucks really, really bad, but Moore is an experienced player who knows his limitations. It will be interesting to see what the line combinations are. I wouldn't be surprised to see him paired with Clifton, who looked like a true rookie for the first time all playoffs the other night, to maybe stabilize him with some veteran support.

The nice thing about losing a game is it means they can finish the series off on home ice. I'd prefer it to be game 5, but game 7 works too. My heart just might not make it that far.

Shit : great eye. Fixed!
BTW, the backup billboard is the one I like the best. Slaps you in the face as you are streaming by at 70 mph. We want to make sure the slow readers get the full effect.
And I can’t believe you are doing this! Well played.

I don't think he looks as good as he did earlier, but he was in God mode, so maybe that was unrealistic to expect in the finals.

Would love to see him steal the first game in STL though.
You could also add the 1960 and 1961 NBA Finals, although the St Louis Hawks did beat the Celtics in 1958.
Excuses, excuses, but Bill Russell got hurt in game 3 against the Hawks and didn't play again except for a few minutes of the final game.

Well. Now I have more concern.

The UV development is interesting though. Do you guys think maybe they like his puck movement better than Moore, so they might put him in?

I believe UV can play the rest of the SCF games without burning an ELC year, so playing him would be an interesting decision.

I don't think Vaakanainen is going to play - and if he does, it suggests Cassidy is worried enough to toss a rookie in there. More likely they needed an extra practice body (and picked the one they wanted an extra look at).

We need to use our superior Boston brains to think of something subtler to trick those Missouri nitwits.
Yes. Game 4 Billboard Shtick will be strong.

Almost as weak as their city's iconic brew being a Belgian lager
Blues fan Buddy at the bar for G3 responded to my ordering a Sam with an order for a Budweiser. Asked him how ordering a Belgian beer was showing his allegiance?

Based on the look I got, I think G3 loss was probably karmically my fault, sorry guys.

Gryz possibly done for the year and Vaak probably just the third depth back up to Moore (gauche shot) and Maybe even Kampfer (droit shot). Someone has to be and it’s not you or me.

Bergeron needs a maintenance day after 11 days off?
Ya, the guy that played with a punctured lung needs coddling. From NBC sports
link.

Bergeron also logged just 16:16 minutes despite getting 3:52 minutes with the man advantage. To put that in perspective, this is just the second time in the 2019 playoffs that he’s gotten less than 18 minutes of ice time and his average in the playoffs going into this contest was 19:10 minutes. There’s some speculation that he might be dealing with a groin injury, which would be a big blow for Boston.

Seems like a near certainty he is playing with a not insignificant injury. He has 1 G 5V5 in the entire playoffs. He perhaps better than anyone can still be effective at reduced speed given his ability to read the game better than anyone but still seems clear he isn't close to 100%.

I'd like to see Mojo/Coyle get more run 5V5.

Well injuries would explain the ineffectiveness of the Marchand/Bergeron/Pastrnak line. Marchand’s hand, Bergeron’s groin. The injuries are starting to pile up and the depth is being tested.

Is there a more subtle image of the Orr goal, maybe the broadcast view, or even from further out, that could be put on it, with a caption along the lines of "Finally, welcome back to the Cup."?

You could go with a shot of that play from a few seconds earlier - just after Orr has fed the puck to Sanderson behind the net and as he starts to cut towards the goal mouth. Anyone who's seen the clip will know what's coming...

Nice job stealing one on the road against the superior team. Need to win that kind of squeaker to win it all.

This team is a pleasure to watch. Throughout the year they’ve stepped up when they’ve needed to and handled it with class.

Does Chara rank up there with Ortiz (or Manny?) as the best Boston free agent aquisition of all time?
It's like if we got (as a FA) Kevin Garnett, but when he was 7 years into his career instead of 12. And with hockey longevity.

This is, what, his 13th season with us? That's a career. Manny only had 8. I believe he'll tie Papi next year.

You don't think they'll be able to afford him next year? Or do you mean they won't be able to sign him after next year?
They have to pay Carlo, McAvoy, and Heinen next year. All RFAs. Gonna be tight and he’s a UFA in 2020, so probably best bang for the buck to free up some money while building the future.

Driving somewhere most likely
Just a great performance in game 3, they played their game and just were solid on the puck at both ends.
So far this playoffs the Bruins have won series in 7,6 and 4 games.
Might as well win a 5 game series boys.

It was nice to see the Blues get burned by the stupid offsides challenge (allowing a goal on the ensuing PP), and also good to see that the officials got the call correct.
Might as well win a 5 game series boys.
Certainly possible. Game 2 looks more like an aberration now.

Do not read this as a complaint. Or really anything negative.

But it wold be good if the second line got going soon. Clearly, they can win without that. But balance is nice and imagine the psychological impact on St. Louis if goals are coming from all four.
