A fun article on the subject of the schedule:

How mathematicians are trying to make the NFL schedule fairer

Basically, top academic operations researchers decided to help the NFL reduce / minimize scheduling quirks that fans might find unfair (which were already accounted for in the league's candidate-schedule scoring system, but were being sub-optimally searched-for), and the NFL funded them to do so.

Beats the hell out of the pre-existing approach, as-told by Peter King, who sounds about as intelligent on this subject as Senators trying to talk about the Internet.

Here's my yearly stab at a Patriots schedule. I leave open the possibility that the Texans game could be flexed to SNF.

Week 1 vs. Kansas City SNF
Week 2 at Washington 1:00
Week 3 vs. Cleveland TNF
Week 4 at Buffalo 1:00
Week 5 at Baltimore 1:00
Week 6 vs. Miami 1:00
Week 7 BYE
Week 8 vs. Pittsburgh 4:25
Week 9 at Philly SNF
Week 10 vs. Jets 4:25
Week 11 at Cincinnati 1:00
Week 12 vs. Giants MNF
Week 13 at Jets 1:00
Week 14 at Houston 4:25
Week 15 vs. Dallas SNF
Week 16 vs. Buffalo 1:00
Week 17 at Miami 1:00

Thanksgiving Day Predictions
Bears at Lions
Rams at Cowboys
Steelers at Jets

Surprising, to me at least.

Edit: the more I think about it though, the more I realize that it's not quite the marquee game it has been in recent years. Clearly Pats-Browns is more desirable for the networks right now.

The home-away situation is weird. No two in a row at home thus far until the final two of the season?

Early thoughts: late bye but also a mini bye between Weeks 6 and 7 (11 days between games). Weeks 11-15 figure to be very tough especially if they play Dallas in Week 15.
I bet Dallas is week 12 so the Pats don't go like 6 weeks without a home game. That would mean 4 straight road games. No way.

And guessing @ Washington week 5, @ Cincy week 15

Arguably their toughest six games are all consecutive, depending on how you view the Steelers. The rest of the schedule is a cakewalk.

Anyone go to the Washington game back in 2011? That seems like a potential road trip. Great time of year, could do touristy things in DC, etc.

The Jets could very easily be sitting at 1-5 before a midseason Florida doubleheader:
  1. vs. BUF
  2. vs. CLE (MNF)
  3. @ NE
  4. BYE (tough luck)
  5. @ PHI
  6. vs DAL
  7. vs NE (MNF)

Ah, the only time I was able to see Brady and Gronk play together live. It was a great time and there were tons of Pats fans, and the stadium is pretty convenient to the Metro from downtown. Definitely recommend.

Cool thanks. Unfortunately both my siblings are due to have their first kids in the first week of October... was originally planning a group trip, that won't be happening now.
