CTE.It seemed to have happened overnight so there almost had to be some sort of catalyst.
The post is a huge deal. That’s airing out private team business.I can't give Tomlin much credit since AB was a big headache there. This the fact that they got little back for him and took about $20M cap hit. Not going to blame him either though.
I want to hear more details on what happened though. Reportedly it was at practice in front if everyone. Did Mayock initiate it? Reports are that he was not happy with AB's IG post. But he could have easily discussed it in his office. Overall the post is not a big deal.
Of course if Brown instigated it then that's a whole other story.
The guy has probably never been given a firm “no” in his life. He got one over on Pittsburgh. He got one over on Oakland wrt the summer, as discussed above. That's kind of my take too (re: Tomlin). He's always been a known diva but - if memory serves - he didn't explode to a full-blown TO level pain in the ass until about a year ago. Now he's a flat-out cancer. It seemed to have happened overnight so there almost had to be some sort of catalyst.
He went on FB live and broadcast from the locker room after a playoff win and got rewarded with a huge contract.I tend to agree with Breer--Tomlin helped keep the wheels on despite having (at least) two massive a-holes on his hands in Ben and AB. If AB feels like he can do anything now it's because Tomlin finally gave up and let AB force his way out of town.
In other news, I can't believe I'm defending Breer and Tomlin...

Eh. Not something you want but minor deal to me. So everyone knows you fined him? Not really a major deal to me.The post is a huge deal. That’s airing out private team business.
Stars plural.Somehow Breer doesn't understand that.

Albert Breer
"@AlbertBreer Again, if you want to know what Mike Tomlin's done exceptionally well as Steelers coach, take a look at what's happened with some of his highest profile stars once they've left."
Not sure if anyone would consider Martavis Bryant a star.Stars plural.
Is there another example of a star player who left the Steelers and went on to be a problem? Can't be in reference to Bell as he hasn't been an issue with the Jets.
I feel for you, Gunfighter, and other Raiders fans here.Huge respect for Mayock. I’m one of 2-3 Raider guys here and I’m already done with Brown. Move on.
This has definitely been something completely unpredictable. The feet, the helmet, the helmet again, again with the helmet, and now the fight with Mayock. It's a lot of insane things happening in a very short period of time. You hate to see it.I feel for you, Gunfighter, and other Raiders fans here.
Not sure about others but I did not think it would blow up this spectacularly.
Plaxico Burress never played under Tomlin as a head coach. Tomlin started as H.C. in 2007. Holmes had legal problems while a player in Pittsburgh (under Tomlin).Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress come to mind. Wallace wasn't a problem but he was never worth his contracts once he left. Emmanuel Sanders has been a steady pro.
Gruden is owed $90m over the next 9 years. He is in charge of the team.I have no idea if he wants to, but does Gruden have the juice with Davis to get Mayock canned?
The question was in response to a specific quote and discussion about Tomlin. The question as stated was players leaving Pittsburgh in general, not constrained to Tomlin era. Burress was suspended by both the Steelers and the Giants at different times, played training camp holdout games on the Giants, and then shot himself.
Holmes' pot episode triggered his trade, he had legal problems and had cancer type issue with his teammates on the Jets, just googled Santonio Holmes behavior with Jets and got a variety.
Probably.I have no idea if he wants to, but does Gruden have the juice with Davis to get Mayock canned?
2 to 1 he's on Big Brother next summer.I get the sense that AB doesn't really want to play football anymore, and probably hasn't since last season. He was on The Masked Singer, and seems to view himself as a brand. Everything he's done this training camp, with HBO cameras documenting all of it, strikes me as part publicity campaign, part dodge.
I mean... being on the Masked Singer doesn't mean he is done playing football. Given his ridiculous training regiment, should we perhaps give that a little more credibility than being on a show in the offseason? Did Gronk not want to play football because he appeared on WWE years ago? What about Brady or Edleman in HBO shows? Or countless other athletes....I get the sense that AB doesn't really want to play football anymore, and probably hasn't since last season. It's not *just* his appearance on that show. Yes, he's a workout warrior. Gronk still is too, despite not playing football right now. I don't think it's crazy to question his desire to play the game, since he seems to be doing anything possible to avoid it for the past year.I mean... being on the Masked Singer doesn't mean he is done playing football. This is the risk with AB that Mayock signed up for, so I don't think he deserves or needs any sympathy. But I do appreciate the way he has handled it. I hope he can void the guarantees in the contract.
Do players owe agent commissions on voided contracts? Otto is an agent, right?View: https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/1169753636886523905
Sounds like suspending Brown for at least the start of the season will happen, which in turn everyone is assuming would allow the Raiders to walk away from his contract at any time (since apparently NFL contracts all say you can rescind the contract in the event of a suspension for contract detrimental to the team). It also sounds like Rosenhaus is desperately trying to work things out with the Raiders.
I just crunched the numbers on this, math 60x60x24x347. He is correct. AB is a dumbass. Play out your contract you moron. If I were Rosenhaus, I'd ask AB to start counting, one number every second. You have time left over after "1". Less after "nine hundred seventy three." To stay within a second, you'll have to talk really fast to do 11,477. Or 873,111. Or 7,845,372.
But if AB managed to count that way, without sleeping, for nearly a year - 347 days, so if he started at midnight on New Year's Eve, he'd be finished in mid-December - he'd get to 30,000,000.
Rosenhaus should maybe ask him to stop when he gets tired of the counting, and figure out how to go back to being a football player so he can collect the 30 million instead of letting it slide away forever...
Really? I think even a punchless Denver team can still D this trainwreck of a team/coach.I think they can beat Denver twice,
People still say that?
To give an idea of how much 1 Billion Dollars is, I heard it would take roughly 2.5 lifetimes (like 185 years) to count to it, starting at 1, and doing it 24 hours a day. Most numbers after a million will take a longer than a second. If I were Rosenhaus, I'd ask AB to start counting, one number every second. You have time left over after "1". LOL
Fuck this guy. He should be out of the league.
Thanks for the link. Rosenhaus looks like he's shooting a hostage video there.
