Rory 3-jacks 10, Tiger goes 3-up. Rory made a long par save on 2 to tie and basically hasn’t made a putt since.

I’ve seen Rory implode before, but his performance on 16 just now is about as good of a blow up as you’ll see on Tour. (Non-John Daly division.)

Just stunning.

Following only by play to play. Can anyone help me explain what just happened? Looked like Rory was by the par five greeen in two and ended up double bogey?

Hit a 395 yard drive in the fairway. Hit a horrendous wedge that went short and right and ended up in the face of a bunker. 3rd shot was an awkward stance chip shot that he nuked over the green and rolled up against railroad ties where he couldn’t get relief because it was the OOB boundary. Took an unplayable and went back to where he hit his 3rd. 5th shot was chunked into the bunker. 6th on the green and he conceded. Tiger was like 30 feet away in 3.

395 yard drive in the fairway. Wedge to the green. Fans the wedge to the right, just over the trap. Skulls the third shot over the green against the boundary fence. Takes relief by going back to the spot of hit third shot, now chipping for par. Hits it in the sand. Hits his 6th shot to a few inches for the 7.

And Tiger closes him out on 17.

Bjerregaard ties Tiger at 10. Match turned on 6, Tiger had a 4-footer to go 3-up and missed it. He’s been chasing ever since.

Sergio’s temper just cost him a hole as he missed a 3-inche putt because he swatted at the ball and missed before Kuchar was able to even say “that’s good”

I want the entire transcript of their conversations since that moment. Sergio and his pride seem a perfect landing spot for Kuch’s non-chalance and type B-ness.

I know Sergio is coming of bad here. But I wonder if Kuch said something like “hey man sorry but I was gonna say that’s good” and Sergio replied with “then give me a hole and we’re even?”

Again Sergio is wrong to get heated and only has himself to blame, but if Kuchar says to the official “hey just for the record I gave him that put” instead of “I didn’t have a chance to give it to him” then I think the hole is halved.

Sergio called Bones over, mid-match, to take ownership of the situation, but made sure to add, “ I mean, Kuch COULD have given me the next hole, but hey, it’s my temper that’s the issue.” He’s a douche.

Seems like Sergio man’d up anyway.
“I realize that my three hole tantrum has been captured by the broadcast, so let me try to weasel out of it by taking responsibility after browbeating my opponent for the better part of the last hour.”

He didn’t really man up. And you have to be a titanic dick to make Matt “I’ll give you another thousand and it’s more than you’ve seen in your lifetime, so STFU” Kuchar look like a victim.

Driver doesn’t seem like the right play on 18 right now. This seems like a much harder shot than laying up back in the fairway at the top of the hill.
