At the present time, Tiger cannot hit a putt straight or accurate or at the appropriate speed.

It's looking very yippy out there.

As much as I dislike him, Justin Thomas put on a show yesterday. And, yeah, the altitude, but driving the 450 yard green at #10 on Saturday (the standard in the background say 406, and the video is labeled as 415, but the tournament card says 450, and I believe the official distance was actually recorded as 457.

Ryan Palmer putting on a show today. 29 on the front then birdies 16 and 17. 18th hole to go, wind is picking up, if he gets in with a par or another birdie he’s in good shape.

Missed a makeable birdie putt.

Think there is too much firepower up top that Palmer will end up 1-2 shots short. Hell of a round though.

Kinda weird that he's been dealing with this neck strain for "a few weeks" but played in Mexico. Oh well, nothing to see here I'm sure. Tiger and Steiny have been nothing but transparent and candor-ious? when it comes to injuries.

My favorite was Steiny saying everything’s fine, just a spasm and he’ll play next week, after he withdrew from the Dubai money grab. That led to the fusion.

Wonder if this popped up at Riviera. He had to play 72 holes over 3 days in cool / cold temps.

Darren Clarke was on Foreplay this week for a solid 30-40 mins. What a great interview, I could listen to him tell stories all day. Apparently he lives down in the Bahamas at the golf course, he practices and plays all day then goes to the beach bar at night (Flippers) and mixes in some Champions Tour events too. What a life.

He says he got hurt practicing last week.

I hate him, so maybe my bias is clouding my thoughts, but seems he was feeling it and the likelihood of him finishing the week were very slim to begin with. Glad he got those 5 holes in though. WD before hand so an alternate can play.

I know this isn’t the thread, but I find it (painfully) amusing that one of the alternates was also on my roster. Day just hammered me this morning.

Glad to hear its something simple like a disc. Those things never get worse.

Epic shank from Poulter on PGA Tour Live. Some real grind-y golf going on out there.

Reed has the shanks on the tee.....also anyone know why Rory just birdied the 3rd and was last to tee off on the 4th? the other two players got par and bogey

I don't understand how that's not a movable obstruction and why he had to hit through it.
This is from Golfweek.
On the 10th hole in the first round at Bay Hill, Mickelson found his 291-yard drive off the tee nudged against a mesh boundary fence alongside the left fairway.

It was caught up against the out-of-bounds netting but on the in-bounds side. Thus, the ball was deemed in play.
To me, this is the part that’s weird.
His heroic attempt at an escape, however, failed as the ball got caught up in the meshing and, as Lefty looked up in the air to try and locate his ball, the ball fell to the ground just a foot away.

This time, the ball was out of bounds. Under the old rules, Mickelson would have been forced to play his next shot from the exact spot his second shot originated from. But with the new rule that went into effect Jan. 1, Mickelson was allowed one club length of relief from the original spot under penalty of one stroke

Rory with a pretty flat front nine. Fitzy doing his thing. Still about 10-12 guys that can win this thing.

Man are they pumping the hell out of the Players.

Featured groups next week:

Guess they know Tiger and Phil are definitely in?

Frankie Molinari hits a version of Tiger’s putt on 18 to post -12.

Azinger calls it the biggest moment of his career, apparently forgetting Frankie winning a major championship less than a year ago.
