Hero World Challenge on Golf Channel right now. Tiger is striping the driver.

I honestly don't understand why every pro doesn't wear them. They are out in the sun so much. I used to get headaches after every round, now with my glasses on I can play 36 and be fine.
That's funny because I can't golf with sunglasses on. Seeing the bright sun out of the corner of my eye contrasted with the dimmed sun in my main point of view when I swing screws up my coordination something awful.

So much DeChambeau putting with the flag stick in.

Edit... maybe that rules isn't in effect yet?

I live in sunglasses when golfing. I suppose there’s a little getting used to them but I could never go back to playing without them—there’s just so much sun and glare out there. I’ve heard some people think they impact green reading.

No sunglasses, no hat for me...Robert Rock/Ryder Cup Rory-style. (but lots of sunscreen).
No hat would mean a very bad burn for me, so that is not an option.

Unfortunately I have a fairly heavy prescription so I don't really have sunglasses anymore. I do/did like using them for drives, as I thought made it easier for me to pick up the ball in flight, but that may have been all in my mind.

Clip-ons seem to have made a minor comeback this year. Might have hunt and be a bit spendy to find something that looks good.

Not sure how I feel about the new golf channel graphics.
I was debating this myself last night. I like that they seem to be going for less clutter (a nice change from most channels nowadays). But something didn't seem right. The font seemed a little too large and cartoonish, maybe? Probably done for mobile devices.

Missed cut in an easy tournament to start the year, hasn’t looked good in a long while, was talking about not being comfortable on the course, throwing old equipment in the bag because he doesn’t trust the new stuff, gone from one of the best putters on tour to mediocre to worse, Haney saying he believes Spieth has the yips...

He's definitely struggling by his standards, but he shot 66 in the 2nd round (granted on a par 70 course) of his first event of the year. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a factor in the majors this year.

something about the contrasting colors of the very green grass and the brown areas at the Desert Classic is very nice for the eye

What the fuck happened to PGA Tour Live? NBC Sports Gold? $10/mo?

A bit late to the party on this, but did anyone else notice how awesome Waialae looked and played last week? I had no idea that Tom Doak had been consulting on the course, nor did I know (until just now) that it was originally designed by Seth Raynor - but the Raynor elements really came to the fore in my mind for the first time. I'd always thought of that course as pretty blah, borderline muni-type fare, but now I think Hawaii has two really, really good courses with which to start the year on Tour and not just one.

Yeah what the fuck. This is BS
So I did some research. Apparently it all migrated over to NBC/Golf Channel. I canceled my iTunes subscription and signed up for NBC Sports Gold. They're running a special that ends today for $49.99 for the season, so basically the same price as before. So I think I'm in good shape.

Still - what a cluster.

I honestly wondered how long he could stay in top. He'll always be a good player, but his game has a lot of holes and it's pretty amazing he was able to do what he did. Let's see what him and his team come up with to stay on top.

I believe Speith got engaged early last year and married in November. Could be as simple as him not being as locked in on golf as he was in prior years. It doesnt take much for outside distractions to get you off your game, and no doubt he went through a lot of changes.

That depends. Maybe they started living together for the first time. Or maybe she was a bridezilla who obsessed about the wedding all year. I'm obviously just guessing, but again at that level small changes off the course can really affect some guys

Can you imagine a Spieth wedding.

" Do you take this woman to be your bride"

Jordan spends 3 minutes conferring with his caddy

"we do."

For me with Jordan, when he was winning a lot I always said he was boring. I think part of the reason I said that is because there wasn't a part of his game that was overwhelmingly better than everyone else. He doesn't hit it particularly far, he's decently accurate, his ball striking is good, as is his short game. Everyone's response to that was "His mental game is better than everyone". At the time, that may have been true...but he's a bit more fragile than people thought.

A few months ago on the PGA players survey, most pros said JT would win more majors going forward than Spieth. I don't disagree.

I think he’ll be fine. He was 33rd in total strokes gained last year despite being dragged down by being negative (123rd) in putting. He contended in 2 majors, finished T12 in the PGA so he was able to piece it together in the big spots. He also was one of the better US players at the Ryder Cup (an admittedly low bar to clear there). Cleaning up the putting is easier said than done, especially if Haney’s yips observation is accurate, but the rest of his game is in tact.

I’d chalk the Sony up to some rust. It was his first start in 2 months and he had the wedding any everything, so presumably there was some time off of golf. He did shoot a 66 on Friday.

My thought (without checking the stats) was that when he was winning he was an all-world putter had elite short game to go with it. That was definitely his strength, especially at Augusta.

That is obviously not the case now, and he's not good enough in other areas to overcome his putting downfall.

Does anyone have a good PGA podcast they listen to or site for betting purposes? I’m in a couple of fantasy leagues that require weekly player selections and I admittedly don’t follow the PGA as closely as I should, do any shortcuts are greatly appreciated.
