In the final group after a pair of 68's, Spieth threw up a sweet 42 on his opening 9 today. Also in the final group is Corey Conners, a Monday qualifier who started the day tied with Speith. After 9, he's 11 strokes ahead.

0 fairways hit in his first 10 holes for Jordy.

EDIT--never having been a Spieth hater, I genuinely feel bad for the dude.

As a Spieth fan, watching this is painful. He's an absolute mess, everywhere on the course.

Spieth was on NLU this week. He talked a lot about his issues this year, got into some technical details on his swing. Some of the swing details are a little over my head because I’m a dummy when it comes to the golf swing, but it was interesting to hear him speak about his problems. He says his full swing issues are the same as his putting issues. He also talked about the 2016 Masters. He basically said his swing was shit all week, had to fly in McCormick Saturday night to try and straighten it out, his miss was short right and welp can’t have that miss on 12 at Augusta.

Anyways, I thought it was a good interview and recommend it.

Conners has a psycho scorecard. Birdied 4 of the first 5 holes, then 4 straight bogeys followed by 3 straight birdies. 12 holes, 1 par, 7 birdies, 4 bogeys.

Romo playing in the Byron Nelson, opens with a birdie.

He shot 85-79 in the Dominican alternate event earlier this season, after 77-82 last year. I believe the Byron Nelson is at his home course, so I guess he’s got that going for him.

Romo ended up shooting a 76. He uses a Happy Gilmore style putting grip which was very weird to watch, I’m not used to seeing a guy with a short putter use that drastic a split grip and also not use a pencil grip for the bottom hand.

He’ll probably shoot an 85 today or something high and end up DFL but for now he’s ahead of 5 pro’s (poor Smylie Kaufman) and tied another which is impressive.

This led me to go to Smylie's OWGR page. In his last 24 tournaments dating back to 11/5/17, he's made one total cut and hasn't made a cut in about 1.5 years (CareerBuilder Challenge on 1/21/18 w/ a T69 - nice).

Romo shot a 74 to MC at +8. He won’t be DFL, 4 guys in behind him.

Really impressive, in my opinion. I think it just goes to show how good the tour guys are. Romo can drive it 300+, hit greens and showed some short game touch, but he still wasn’t even close to making the cut. It is really really hard to put it all together for a 9 hole stretch let alone 18, 36 and 72 holes week in and week out.

I had him in the fantasy league last year. He was not good.

Your post reminds me of a question that has always intrigued me. What is the hardest sport to succeed in, assuming you have the necessary talent?

Groups and tee times are out for next week....seems like we've had a lot of Woods and Molinari when they've both played

65 for Spieth today after the T3 at Bethpage. Back?

Bethpage is not a good setup for him, wonder if the strong showing there got him over some kind of mental hurdle.

Some great golf going on in the NCAA national championships.

Is the consensus that Wolff is gonna turn pro after this? I’m probably heading to the US Am in August at Pinehurst and would love to see him play there, but I can’t imagine he doesn’t turn pro.

Anyone else getting PGA Tour Live to work for them?
I'm getting no video on mine. Likely a browser/computer issue or just operator error.
This is happening for me again. Totally fine on the app, but on NBCSportsGold website I just get a black screen where the media player should be. I've tried everything: clearing cache/cookies, multiple browsers, restarting my computer, turning flash on/off and nothing. Anyone run into this before? I can't remember how I got it working last time.

Spieth shoots 32 on the back, -4. T3 at the PGA, T8 last week...I think he’s officially trending.
He's definitely playing much better. But now he's got to do it on a Sunday, (and Saturday) when he's in contention. For example, his performance last Sunday was extremely poor. Not that he was going to win, but he never gave himself a chance, right when he was in contention.

But he's certainly trending in the right direction.

Phil is going with the 2 driver approach leading into the US Open. One for “bombs” one for “cute cuts.”

I have to imagine the post you reacted sarcastically to was also sarcastic.

Edit: Maybe not though.
