Feels like Skins leadership may be saying ‘wait, fuck us?! No no no FUCK YOU’.
Yes. Cousins redux.

He’ll beat them tho. He’ll come in soon enuf, pay his fines, accrue his service time, eventually be released. They won’t be able to leverage one year on his contract for much after this season.

Williams isn't a thing. Contract is too big.

Getting most of Cannon back will help. If they have to replace Wynn, the gameplan will be dumbed down. It's disappointing but not catastrophic.

The OL is the thermal exhaust port on this death star. Everything else is gold.

I don’t recall ever seeing the play that Wynn was injured on. Anyone remember/have a screenshot?

My biggest fear about Wynn was recognizing that it’s not much of a stretch to say that the Achilles is part of the foot.
Yep.

We are 2 games into the season but if the Pats don’t win it all, I’d wager right now that we’ll be lamenting the O line.

I’ve watched his last play a few times and nothing stands out except at the end, after he’s done pass-blocking, he lifts his left foot for no apparent reason just as the coverage cuts away. Didn’t get stepped on and didn’t seem to flex an odd way. Unfortunately, it’s his left Achilles that ruptured last year.

Playing with a dumbed down game plan is never a good strategy. What you do if your line is limited is you take your best game plan, you give it your best shot, and if the line comes up short then so be it

They played much of the game today with Newhouse who has been on the team since Wednesday. How "dumbed down" was the playbook today (recognizing that Brown doesn't know the playbook either)?

Wouldn’t a re-injury be extremely painful? He didn’t seem in a lot of pain.
Word was that he walked from the medical tent to the locker room under his own power. I would think with an Achilles tear he wouldn't be able to walk on it. But we probably won't know anything until Tuesday or Wednesday when the practice reports come out.

If it's an Achilles he's done for the season, so they'll probably put him on IR ASAP to sign someone or promote somebody off the price squad.

Turf toe, MTP joint sprain, can still be several months. MAkes it hard to push off, which he probably needs to shoot out of his stance.

If that's the worst case, I can easily live with that. The schedule is pretty soft in the first half and what is more important than anything is that we can put our best OL out there in the playoffs.

The shotgun snaps looked a little better.
I didn’t notice any floaters, at least that jumped out at you. I had to look it up on Football Ref and Karras did have all the center snaps. I thought I’d dvd’d the game and wanted to look at it again, but didn’t. No issue anymore I guess.

Oh there were definitely floaters. I noticed a couple in the second half. Maybe less frequency and higher velocity, but the issue was still there.

Meanwhile Karen Guregian seems to confirm and imply that her source is telling her it is, in fact, turf toe: "Per source, I can confirm Ian Rapoport’s report of Isaiah Wynn having a toe injury. It’s most likely turf toe. They’ll likely do an MRI to check for ligament damage."

Turf toe is not great but I guess it can cover a pretty wide range of severity.

Given Wynn's injury history is it time to start looking for a new LT? In 2 years the man has 1.25 games.

Meanwhile, an update on Cannon from the Globe:

Cannon was hurt in the season-opening win against the Steelers but practiced all week on a limited basis and was classified as questionable Friday. Cannon went through an on-field workout with strength coach Moses Cabrera before the game and looked fluid, but, without contact, it wasn’t enough for the veteran to gain clearance.
He seems likely to play against the Yets.

Signing Caleb Benenoch, 6'5" 305 G/T started every game at RG for Bucs last year but gave up 10 sacks.
Waved, 5th rd pick from UCLA in 2016, had a lot of interest per Rapoport but wanted to work with Scar.

There it is: Dante Scarnecchia, NFL linemen guru, which was well known before this.

Who might be available at LT? Is there some way they can get Williams from the Redskins? With a 42 year old QB and a team that has a chance at a 7th Super Bowl, the Pats really need to find a permanent solution.

There's no way to get Trent Williams unless they dump salary or restructure a few contracts. It's not happening.

Yikes. A shame as he looked really good, too.

I'm guessing the optimistic reports were folks realizing it wasn't his Achilles. Those same reports said they were awaiting the MRI results. I'm assuming the MRI came back showing ligament damage, putting him in the 6-8 week timeframe, if not longer. Hoping he's able to come back for Week 10 or 11 and be effective for the stretch run.

I read somewhere that it is on his plant foot which makes it even more aggravating for him. As he'd constantly be putting immense stress on it.

Also, isn't this one of those "rest and ice" (or no ice) are the only things that really heal it. So the timing is really a matter of how long it takes which is insanely variable from person to person.

That guy signed today plays a lot of Guard, although I think he can also play tackle. My assumption, though, is that we’re loading up on guys who can play inside because Thuney will be moving to OT until Wynn comes back.
