He was active last year. After the Pats signed him in November following a release for Oakland's IR, he appeared in 2 games for the Pats.

From wikipedia:

He appeared in 5 games in 2017 for Oakland (following IR-DTR), 2 last season for NE and none this season. So I think he's eligible (under the 1 accrued season, but less than 9 games on active list rule), but I'm not positive.
Thanks. I agree that it seems like he is.

Stephen Anderson released from practice squad seems odd, if only because they're light at that spot

But he's a move TE, isn't he? With all the WRs, the Pats may be thinking that the TE really only needs to block.

Seems like a pretty experienced guy to be able to grab off the wire.
Seems like exactly the type of guy you'd find on the wire. Since 2013, he's changed teams every year except after 2015. Here's his teams and games:

2018 - Panthers - 11 G, 2 Starts
2018 - Bills - 3 G, 0 Starts
2017 - Raiders - 14 G, 14 Starts
2016 - Giants - 10 G, 6 Starts
2015 - Giants - 14 G, 14 Starts
2014 - Bengals - 15 G, 5 Starts
2013 - Packers - 15 G, 2 Starts
2012 - Packers - 16 G, 16 Starts
2011 - Packers - 16 G, 13 Starts
2010 - Packers - 0 G, 0 Starts

Not great at embedding tweets, but Miguel says that Jones' deal actually reduced the cap number this year by just a little bit so it stands around $5 million pending Newhouse contract information.

To embed tweets all you have to do it post the link to the tweet. The forum will format it.

Any word on Deatrich Wise? Is he dealing with an injury or just a health scratch?

I think the drip drip drip of allegations will be too much even for this locker room. Who knew they were signing the NFL Trump?

These are all things that have happened in the past. Now, if these allegations continue with new events occuring while employed by the Pats then we have a different story.

In related news...

In the corresponding roster move Friday, the Patriots signed linebacker Scooby Wright to the practice squad and released defensive lineman Gerri Green from the practice squad.
Scooby's back!

Reiss had this tweet yesterday afternoon:

The Patriots had the following free agents in for workouts: DB Jordan Brown (South Dakota State), TE C.J. Conrad (Kentucky), DT Braxton Hoyett (Mississippi State), QB T.J. Linta (Wagner) and WR Sean Modster (Boise State). The team is always updating its emergency lists.
Here is a NYPost piece on the TE Conrad, a late cut by the Giants and rookie UDFA mainly due to heart issue. Listed as 6'5" and 252 lbs.

Linta {college QB for Brown and Wagner) is the son of football agent Joe Linta, who has Danny Etling as a client.

I didn't watch much preseason. Is Jakub Johnson just a blocking TE or do we think he might actually be able to catch the ball?

Bedard has been down on Develin for over a year and believes Johnson will be at least as good.
Bedard should let Bill know this. For the last year and 1/8th Develin has been on the field as much as any back and also of course on special teams.

If Bill is letting a shitty player play 40 percent of every game week in and week out, someone should let him know. Hopefully, Bedard knows how to contact him.

I have no way to verify this, but I suspect that Bedard is upset over his lot in life

Wow. Either Harry misses his rookie year or Wynn misses his first 2 seasons. That is unacceptable for 2 of your first round picks.

Here
I love Develin, and maybe it’s just me, but I can’t imagine it’s incredibly difficult to find a useful Fullback or to convert someone. Nobody uses them, which is why I think Develin’s stood out as much as he has.

I still have significantly more concern about the OL.
