Wasn't Kendrick a highly regarded prospect coming up with the Angels? I remember chatter that this kid would be a perennial All-Star who would challenge for batting titles year in and year out. Never really materialized that way, but he's always been a good hitter.
Pearce's and Kendrick's lifetime OPS's are essentially the same, but Kendrick has 3000+ more AB, so not really a fair comparison. Just trying to be cute. Howie's got a long way to go this postseason to touch the King of Sock anyway.

Cardinals use 6 relievers in a 2-0 game since the Top of the 7th. Yuck.
Its the playoffs. Teams are going to use everything they have. Each win is like gold as you know. I don't recall anyone here having a problem with Cora's bullpen management last year and he was aggressive with his moves.

Yadi Molina is the classiest, best catcher the MLB has ever seen. He makes plays that other catchers couldn't dream of making...

Do these guys really believe half the bullshit that comes out of their mouths?

I'm praying for a Nationals/Astros World Series, here. That's the only combination that works for me here, though karma demands a Rays/Nationals World Series, which would be only the second World Series between two expansion teams.

The Houston Astros are an historically great team this year, even better than the 2018 Red Sox, and richly deserve the title. But man, I'd love to see the Nationals win.

both these offenses are not that good. Nats are better by default with Rendon & Soto, and have the better starting staff.

there's a reason projections have the Nats as decent favorites despite not having home field.

The Astros were an expansion team, so it works that way as well

Is there really that much of a ratings benefit to playing the game at 4:00 instead of 1:00? We go through this every year with the shadows playing havoc with these late afternoon post-season starts.

I hope all these games are this close. Its a pleasure watching tight games where my rooting interest is simply casual rather than psychotic.

...and things are starting to get... mildly interesting here.

We'll re-evaluate after the bottom of the 6th to see if we need to begin speaking in hushed tones.

Yeah, I don't even care much about this game, but the bad calls make me question my interest in baseball.
Again, as long as the strikezone is consistent for both sides, its fine. The umps who call the same pitch location inconsistently are the ones who drive me up a wall.

Heard an incredible factoid on the radio broadcast--

The only other time in post-season history that a team has been no-hit through at least 5 innings in Games 1&2 of a series...

...the 2013 Red Sox in the ALCS. The pitchers? Anibel Sanchez and Max Scherzer.
holy hell

Cards starters haven’t gotten a hit since the 4th inning of NLDS game 5, 55 straight ABs.
