Spencer Knight is the only goalie projected to go in the first round and at the bottom of the round. I know there is a lot of literature on why the first round is not the time to take a goalie (Malcolm Subban says hi) but he should be in the mix for the Bruins.

Alex Vlasic, Ville Heinola, and Nils Hoglander are 3 players that seem to fit what the Bruins look for in draft picks and who might be available at the end of the 1st round.

I want Leason. Overaged and skipped in two drafts but a right shot monster who should be right in the thick of it at 30

I want no part of a drafting a guy that was a “monster” skating against 16 year olds as a 20 year old in the WHL. He’s exactly the kind of overreacting that I don’t want this front office to have to the way the season ended. I want them to draft the most skilled guy available. If he happens to have good size and “jam” then great.

Corey Pronman's last mock draft in the Athletic has them taking Vlasic:

https://theathletic.com/1012017/2019/06/06/pronmans-mock-draft-1-0-projecting-the-first-round-of-the-2019-nhl-draft/
I actually think Parayko and Carlo's playoff performances are going to shoot Vlasic up into at least top 20 pick, I don't think he'll be there at 30.

Brink sounds like Donato which I don't this is a bad thing per se, but I don't see the Bruins being high on him. They've focused a lot on skating in their drafting and development the past few years, and Brink is a weak skater.

The one-year wonder red flags are there for Leason, but he had more ppg than Studnicka and is a bit younger (played the whole season at 19). I doubt he's actually as good as Studnicka, but if he is, that's worth a late 1st round pick for sure.

If you're drafting at 30, there are going to be red flags. Hopefully someone super talented slips to them for whatever reason, like Pasta did. That could be Nils Hoglander, who held is own in the SHL at 17/18 but didn't put up noteworthy counting stats, and is a winger.

That's fine but I think they should definitely not draft a defenseman, specifically a LHD.

Whoever they draft at 30 won't be pushing for NHL minutes for a couple years. Both Chara and Krug will very likely both be gone.

If they're trying to win now while Bergeron is still elite, and they think a 20 year old winger can play immediately, it's not a crazy idea to value that. I don't agree, but it's not crazy.

Between here and everywhere.

Similar things were said about Alex Debrincat. There were a couple people here (me included) BEGGING the Bruins to take him. He turned out ok.

The guy I want is Poulin, good size, good shot left shot rw. Intangibles etc.. I'm scared of Vlasic, I think people are dreaming on his size but I think there is a huge risk of flame out.

Other guys I like:

Beecher- 6'3 center who can skate. He was pushed down the lineup because he played with three top 10 prospects at center. There could be more there but its a guess. I think he has a high floor.

Lagare- not a great skater but I bet he'd be a top 15 pick if he was. Elite shot from rw.

There are a bunch of left shot Finnish d available That don't excite me. Also there is the chance Peyton Krebs falls because he just had surgery to repair his Achilles. I'd take the chance on him over any of these guys.

Debrincat scored 50+ goals every year in the OHL, though. His biggest knock was people didn't think he would score without McDavid. Then he scored 65 goals so the knock became that he was too small. That remains the biggest miss in recent history for the Bruins. Everyone talks about 2015 but they had a chance to walk out of the first round in 2016 with McAvoy and Debrincat. woof.

Leason is big and they say his skating been improved but he scored more this year as a 19 yo than in his previous two seasons combined. He also slowed down to a PPG player after a torrid start. I see the appeal. 6'4, physical dude who can put up points, but I wouldn't draft him.

Some final mocks are coming in..

TSN and Sportsnet both have the B’s taking John Beecher, a center from the USNDP. 6-14=20 in 27 games. Those numbers aren’t eye popping, but he’s on a team with Hughes, Boldy, Caufield, Zegras, and Turcotte who all project to be top 10 picks. Apparently he grades out as one of the best skaters in the draft, headed to Michigan next season.

Pronman at the Athletic has them taking Jayden Struble, a left shot D from St. Seb’s who is headed to Northeastern. Apparently his stock has risen of late. Pronman had him at 70th when he did his top 107 rankings, McKenzie has him at 63 in his rankings. Central Scouting has him at 48th among North American skaters. Report on him is he’s a puck moving defenseman, who plays with a bit of an edge.

I’m generally a BPS (skater) guy, but all things being equal, I’d prefer to take an F at 30. They’ve used their top pick on a defenseman in 3 straight drafts. There seems to be a glut of D in the 15-20 range, maybe one of them falls and is too good to pass up, but I think the Bruins need to inject some life into the F prospect ranks. They don’t have a ton to be excited about behind Studnicka. Beecher seems intriguing, they do seem to put a premium on skating ability at the draft and he seems to have a more rounded 2-way game. Ryan Suzuki seems like someone who could fall to them. McKenzie said on his podcast that the rub on him is he’s a perimeter player, which probably scares them off. Arthur Kaliyev is seems to be the most volatile of the forwards. Gifted offensively, He scored 51 goals in the OHL this year, a feat not done by many. Apparently some consistency issues as some scouts think he disappears too much. McKenzie said he was the most polarizing player when he did his survey to compile his list. Some had him mid-first round, others late 2nd.

That's Cumberland RI's own Jayden Struble. My son played with him in Jr High before he got on the prep track. Fantastic all around athlete. He was part of the Cumberland team that went to the LL WS and could dunk a basketball in 7th grade. There was no doubt back then that if RI allowed 7th and 8th graders to play varsity he not only would have started for the school varsity, but probably would have been an All State candidate as a 7th grader.

"hey St Louis congrats on trying to set back hockey 30 years but we're gonna pretend that didn't happen and keep drafting speed and skill"
