Football season already? Just as the Red Sox are swooning.

Super Bowl XXXIII rematch. But no Elway or Eugene Robinson or undercover Miami PD

Ok, but all the other teams don't start their preseason games until next week so this weekend aside from this game is still football -less, right?
Right, next bunch of games after tonight is Thurs August 8 (including Pats/Lions). After that there are games Friday and Saturday.

Bob Papa read a promo advertising that select season tickets remain available.
Bad stadium location, bad team, bad traffic, better living rooms.

Going to a baseball game in the summer, or an NBA game in the winter, is awesome and you're not missing much by doing so. Going to an NFL Game on Sunday, unless your primary occupation is tailgating(which is cool), is an exercise in opportunity cost. The money, the time, missing every other NFL game/red zone.

To see a great team? Definitely worth it. To see the Giants? Definitely not worth it.

I don't even go to Pats games any more because it's less hassle, less time commitment, much cheaper, and frankly more enjoyable to watch at home while game threading on this site.

Toss in the other issues you noted for the Giants and it's not surprising at all that they are not selling out.

One of the worst things to happen to the NFL in-stadium ticket sales is the advent of the big-screen HD television, plus things like the Red Zone channel. For all the reasons @johnmd20 said. In NY, in November and December, it's cold and windy, your team sucks, you're probably sitting in the 3rd deck at the end and can't really see much, the beer is $10 a bottle, the lines for the bathroom are long, the traffic getting in and out of the stadium is terrible, and you're probably shelling out like $200 for the day between tolls and parking and the ticket and food.

Why do all that when you can stay at home, or go out with friends to a bar, get good food, in comfort, with a bathroom near by with easy access, where you can change channels as you wish, and the screen in front of you is so huge you can see the stitching on the football clearly?

Yeah, to watch the Patriots kick ass, sure. To watch the Giants get demolished by Tampa Bay? No thanks.

Don’t forget texting or tracking your fantasy team, which is hard when you’re wearing gloves in the cold.

to join the choir, I've gone to I think 3 NFL games and each time couldn't stop thinking "man, I'd be enjoying this so much more if I were at home". The long lines and high prices for everything, the long commute wasting your time going to and from, boorish-to-aggressive seat neighbors*, and the fact that you generally can't see even a fraction as well as you can on TV... all that can be yours for a mere $200+ a ticket! Or, you know, sit on your couch, chat with whoever you feel like hanging out with, and get yourself drinks during commercial breaks. I mean, I do get it if there's some family tradition going on, or you have seats on the 50 yard line, or you're a part of some kickass tailgate. But I'm probably more likely to go to a tailgate and just watch the game outside than I am to buy another NFL ticket ever again.

* one of the games I attended was the 2007 game at Giants Stadium to go 16-0. I had a picture-perfect sight line to see Randy Moss streaking for the 50-yard GW TD... and a few minutes later got puked on by one of the several patrons nearby, none of whom appreciated my Patriots hat and had been giving me grief all game (especially when they went up 11).
