I mean, Barnwell is going to be mostly right. Everyone likes to see As and Bs, but that's not reality
Smart move by Teddy. Brees will be 40 and his skillset is perfect for that offense.Bridgewater back to Saints, turned down larger offer from Miami.
Completely agree. Miami, meanwhile, in solid position to benefit from the Tua/Herbert class next draftSmart move by Teddy. Brees will be 40 and his skillset is perfect for that offense.
Exactly. This is directly related to "why are the Patriot so good".The problem for a lot of these GMs is their job is on the line so winning the back page probably buys them a bit of wiggle room even if it hurts them long term.
Obv. that isn't a problem in NE so they can play the long game better than anyone else.
In a sea of C's:Reading Bill Barnwell's grades for the FA deals so far is pretty hilarious - so many Cs and Ds!

But they are itching to use Hill for no particular reason.Smart move by Teddy. Brees will be 40 and his skillset is perfect for that offense.
Meaning, "yes he'd love to stay and continue beating the Jets"Gang green is incredible right now. Almost 95% posts in the "best FA offseason for any team ever?" category... including this gem:
"If Belicheat was waffling about whether to stay on once Brady retires, we may have made his decision for him with our offseason! LOL"
Dare I say that this reminds of that glorious Off-season Super Bowl winning team of 2010 led by Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, and LaDainian Tomllinson?Gang green is incredible right now. Almost 95% posts in the "best FA offseason for any team ever?" category... including this gem:

4 year deal for a 29 year-old RB? Saints trying to spread out the cap hit or something?Latavius Murray to the Saints on a 4-year deal.
This is how the Saints roll. It's funny because they're such a well-run organization in a lot of ways, but they are the opposite of the Patriots in terms of will to delay gratification. It's all shiny objects in FA, trade-ups in the draft, and pushing out cap hits to the future.4 year deal for a 29 year-old RB? Saints trying to spread out the cap hit or something?
Total of $14.4M over those 4 years. Anything over the vet minimum for him is a complete waste. I'm sure DotB is alternately vomiting and laughing hysterically over this one.Latavius Murray to the Saints on a 4-year deal.
I don't understand why one insane contract has to "set the market". Why can't other teams just go, "holy smokes the Jets are freaking NUTS for spending that kind of money on an ILB...good luck to them but NFW are we doing that." I guess I just wonder why one team's temporary insanity should set the market for all the other teams.Mosley's a good player but there's a reason ILB's don't get paid like other front 7 positions, and his deal just annihilated that market. Barr is a good (inconsistent?) player who will be moving to a new position. Maybe he lights it up, maybe he doesn't. That the thing with so many of these Day 1/Day 2 deals, they might work out great but a lot of teams pay a fat premium to find out.
It's gonna be real tough for a lot of these players to provide excess value- not necessarily a bad thing. As long as you're getting value from other spots on your roster (great draft classes in years 2/3, rookie deal QBs, etc.) you can pick and choose your spots to splurge. Sometimes it works out (Gilmore), sometimes it doesn't (Adalius Thomas). It's just not a way to plug all the holes on your roster.
Yeah, I just don't get it. He is a JAG. Never was that good and RBs fall off a cliff at his age.Total of $14.4M over those 4 years. Anything over the vet minimum for him is a complete waste. I'm sure DotB is alternately vomiting and laughing hysterically over this one.
Barr None?
Plot twist! LB Anthony Barr has decided to agree to terms to remain with the #Vikings, sources say. He will not be a member of the #Jets after all.
I've got no dog in this fight, but that's probably not the best analogy for Pats' fans.Dare I say that this reminds of that glorious Off-season Super Bowl winning team of 2010 led by Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, and LaDainian Tomllinson?
lol wtf, dude’s 30.Bills are signing Cole Beasley to a 4 year/$29 million contract per RapSheet.
Does it make it better that it's really a 2-year 14 million contract?lol wtf, dude’s 30.
Also, off to Gang Green!
Looks like maybe it's actually 2/17.Does it make it better that it's really a 2-year 14 million contract?
No, that’s still crazy, especially if it’s 2/17. Market is, I guess.Does it make it better that it's really a 2-year 14 million contract?
Play it year to year with him. No reason to extend him yet unless he gives a discount.Pats have to do something for Edelman at some point, right?
If they have some cap space come the summer, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like they did for Gronk last year, topping up his deal a bit, maybe through incentives.Pats have to do something for Edelman at some point, right?
I'm guessing this is exactly what they'll do. It will be especially easy to do this year since he missed 4 games last year so you could make the bonuses NLTBE and postpone the cap hit until next year. A bonus for 75 catches or 851 yards, for example, would both be NLTBE, and both should be attainable if he plays all year.If they have some cap space come the summer, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like they did for Gronk last year, topping up his deal a bit, maybe through incentives.
Talking more about giving him an incentive bump. He is woefully underpaid right now.Play it year to year with him. No reason to extend him yet unless he gives a discount.
