Marshawn Lynch has rejoined the Seahawks.

Seattle Times

Rumors that Lynch could be a possibility erupted almost immediately following the game.

Carroll then confirmed them with some enthusiastic and surprisingly candid comments about signing Lynch during his radio show, saying the only possible impediment was Lynch passing a physical.

“He has worked really hard,” Carroll said of Lynch, who has not played since October 2018 in a game against the Seahawks in London while with the Raiders. “Got to see what kind of shape he’s in. From what we understand he’s in really good shape.”
Probably in the best shape of his life. Probably has learned how to throw a 2-seamer to get ground ball outs early in the count so he can go deeper into games and take pressure off the bullpen. Probably has some visa problem that the immigration lawyers are working on right now. Spring Training in December. There’s nothing like it,

Does the NFL not test for weed, because I’d be shocked if Lynch hasn’t smoked in a month+, unless he really was planning to come back all this time.

Not a good look for any of the parties involved.
Rich looked fine and the DA looked fine. He was just defending his wife whose stubbornness was ridiculous. I've never agreed that the size of a bag is relevant when you have metal detectors and check the bags anyways.

I think until a player officially files retirement paperwork, he remains in the standard drug testing protocol. So, basically Lynch would just have to avoid the regular tests the same way any other player who hasn’t been popped for drug use before does, and given there are still full rosters of NFL players, I doubt they are that hard to beat. It’s not like he needs to take one upon signing.

Rapsheet just reported that Redskins are very interested in Ron Rivera. The obvious counterpoint is why would Ron Rivera be interested in the Redskins?

Daniel Snyder's team will never win anything as long as he owns the team. They could give him double the salary cap relative to the rest of the league and he'd still find a way to fuck things up.

Rivera's going to have options, you would think, and you're right ... any of them should be better than the Snyders

Might be as simple as not closing a door until another one is officially open.

Or he’s a desperate idiot.

There aren’t really any attractive job openings this season aside from the Cowboys. Washington and the Jags both have awful owners who don’t know how to build a winner. I guess Rivera could go to the Browns if that job opens.

But that's not really the point with Rivera. It's not likely the Snyders or bust for him
We don’t know. Black Monday is coming. We will see which jobs open up. What do we have as likely:

CLE
WAS
Dal
NYG
Jags
Carolina (not a Rivera option)
Atl( not sure on this one)
Det(read Fatt Matt is safe, but don’t know)
......:
Cowboys have talent but Jerry Jones is a pain in the ass

CLE is a shitshow

NYG depends how you feel about Jones and NY Media but this is a prestige job

Jags, no prestige but maybe he likes living in the South. Owner seems like a decent guy

If Atl opened up, that would be a good one

There's always one opening that few expect. With the Chargers moving into the new stadium next year, could they be the surprise?

I'd rather have Lynn than a lot of coaches.

Do the Bears move on from Nagy?

That's really the only other possible option that hasn't been mentioned above.
No, there’s not even a trial balloons being floated locally. The McCaskey’s are conservative and always wait too long to move people along.

Also, if there’s changes coming, it would have to be Pace, too. He has definitely had some wins (Mack trade, some excellent hits in the draft), but dumping Nagy would make it two failed coaching hires in succession along with trading up to take Trubisky over Watson & Mahomes.

Most likely is that Offensive Coordinator Mark Helflrich and several of his staff get fired. It will be interesting to see if Nagy gives up (or is forced to give up) play calling to bring in an experienced coordinator. No matter what, a QB coach with a good track record (like newly available John Kitna) is a priority hire.

Pagano is safe on the defensive side. If he gets a head coaching offer, I’m sure he’d jump, but he won’t be pushed out.

Most interesting is the rumor that the Bears will make a run at Mariota in free agency. They only have $11m in cap space heading into the offseason, but I see a clear path to another $32m or so if they are willing to move out some veterans like Long, Hicks, and Amukamara. So a lot will depend on what Mariota’s market looks like and how deep the Bears are willing to cut to refresh the roster.

Seems like a wise decision with respect to his long term health. I agree with tims4wins. Good for him.

Wow. That's stunning.
Maybe who it turned out to be is stunning, but at this point we are seeing 1-2 star players retiring every year when they could still be playing. This is the current NFL. Guys are leaving when their mind and body are just mostly fucked up instead of completely.

Not often you see 2 HOF'ers retire on the same day.

Good for them! Great people and great players.
