I could definitely see one of those patented trades where NE trades down 20 picks for Rudolph (cap is $7.6mm, FA after 2019)
Given the pattern of Belichick's drafts over the last 20 years, I'd say he's working on getting ahead of future trends and future needs in drafts, and will probably fill this year's needs via free agency.Did they have trouble with those kinds of players last year? Because the whole defensive backfield is returning.
Cap number isn't important. He's due about $11M in new money. Very likely worth it.For all the people saying CB isn't a need right now, Bedard had this to say leading up to the draft. Interesting point re: Gilmore's 2020 cap number:
Is Bedard even worth quoting at this point? What would they do with Gilmore? Trade him? He has $15M in dead cap space if cut. He’s a top CB and they have rookies to even out cap space in the defensive backfield once the McCourtys are gone after this year if that happens. For all the people saying CB isn't a need right now, Bedard had this to say leading up to the draft. Actually they underpaid no? Draft value chart I see says they did—barely. But everyone in here is calling it overpay.Steep

He was right about Williams. And about the Pats taking a receiver in the first round. Seems to have some good sources, which makes him worth listening to. If you want to disregard him, be my guest. Is Bedard even worth quoting at this point? What would they do with Gilmore? Trade him? He has $15M in dead cap space if cut. Some people just think negative instinctively. If any organization in the world has earned the benefit of the doubt as to their decision making and outcomes you’d think it would be the Patriots by now.I’m sorry but I don’t understand anyone that hears a pick and immediately hates it. What do you know about the player? Frankly, none of us even know what the team actually needs.
I didn’t like Michel last year on the principle of taking an early RB, but besides that I guess I have been indoctrinated. It’s a passing league I’ll take as many CBs as I can get.
And here comes Campbell...maybeA few WR for the Chiefs to grab
For me, the previous trades earlier in the round. 4th and 5ths to move up but Pats may have moved up more so if it shakes out chart wise, sounds good. Liked the pickActually they underpaid no? Draft value chart I see says they did—barely. But everyone in here is calling it overpay.
What’s the disconnect?
I mean, he might be good, but replacement is a bit far fetched IMO. Hill is a special athleteMecole Hardman, he's Hill's replacement
Yup. He gone.Chiefs take Mecole Hardman. Bye Tyreek.
He has no trouble beating smaller defendersHill is a special athlete
Incredible...so good I winced. He has no trouble beating smaller defenders
Could be just his appearances on Felger & Mazz that rub me the wrong way. I would’ve liked to hear how he proposes to play hardball with GilmoreHe was right about Williams. Having good sources and not understanding enough about the salary cap to know why Gilmore's contract is not a burden are not mutually exclusive. He was right about Williams. Teams might have doubts about the physiqueIs there something wrong with Metcalf?
Worse 3 cone than Brady? Is there something wrong with Metcalf?
Teams have figured out that he's a one-trick pony.Is there something wrong with Metcalf?
I think so. Which means there's zero chance of it happening. If Finley is there, do they take him?
My cousin's sister's friend just saw Josh Rosen at the Hertz counter at Logan. Can you imagine how many heads would explode if on the running draft trackers, the Patriots pick at 64 suddenly was replaced by Arizona?
I mean, *somebody* has to make a tackle after Luck fumbles.Did that dumb Colts fan just say defense baby after they picked a WR?
Liar ... your cousin's sister has no friendsMy cousin's sister's friend just saw Josh Rosen at the Hertz counter at Logan.
