AKA Jameson Kuznia. The kid is now one of the "stars" of the LLWS heading in given his size (5'3", 165 pounds) and his power to all fields.

That HR was everything in LL. The end of a four run lead for Iowa and Kuznia jumping around like a little kid, which he is, as he rounds the bases while the Iowa SS sits down at his position and buries his head in his knees.

Jurickson Profar’s brother is the Catcher for Curacao.

Virginia with a combined no hitter over Barrington, RI. Virginia’s manager pulled his Ace after 35 pitches (2.2 IP), which will allow him to pitch with 1 day rest in their next game against Minnesota on Sunday.

Japan beat Italy 20-0.

Venezuela just turned a double play that looked professional. Unbelievable talent in that infield, that was pretty legit.

A friend of a friend works for Little League and told me that Hawaii was accused of swinging hot bats during their regionals. So officials went into their dorms and took the bats they were using and tested them and sure enough they were hot. So LL gave them brand new legal bats. Looks like it did not make much of a difference in their play.

You mean non-LL approved bats? The umpires are supposed to examine the bats before each game in just regular, town LL games -- how could they have gotten away with that?

Give bats to the umps to test and sub in the hot bats after. It's pretty easy to do that. Not sure what LL does, but other levels put a sticker on the bat to mark that it has been tested. Could simply take the sticker from the bats and put them on the hot ones.

Reece Roussel from Louisiana is 13 for 17 in the LLWS, including going 4 for 4 with a Grand Slam and 3 doubles on Thursday night to eliminate Virginia 10-0. The LLWS record for hits is 14. Reece will go for the record on Saturday in the US Championship Game against Hawaii.

The expansion to 20 teams (10 US, 10 international) in 2021 seems weird. Sorry to fellow Rhode Islanders, but it's always seemed like the New England region was relatively easy to make it out of, and now they've actually made it *smaller*, by grouping RI and CT with NY and NJ, leaving a New England region of just MA, NH, ME, VT. So you have a NE region with about 10 million people, a Mountain region of about 8 million (UT, NV, MT, WY), but then Florida (21 million people by itself) grouped in the Southeast with states from Virginia to Alabama, almost 70 million people total. The only way this makes sense is if LL enrollments rates are vastly different by region -- i..e, a very small % of kids play little league in Florida, but high number in MA and NV?

That was a heck of a last inning.
It was amazing.

I hope there are kids watching these games - LL has its share of negatives but this event is done right overall. The games are quick, the play is generally pretty high level and the competition is as pure as you'll get. Hopefully its a draw into the sport.

The expansion will make our local betting pool tougher. Oh well, four more players/bettors, more final winners at the end.

Its awesome that the Victorinos showed up. They seem every bit as cool as you've described them.

As a side note, Mark said this is his old team/league. Pretty damn cool.

The LA coach thinking he had one and starting the 6th with a pitcher who hasn’t pitched in weeks is looking bad right now.
Its tough - you get this far by managing your pitching and getting lucky with a few kids stealing outs here and there. It wasn't a terrible call to go with the kid with such a big lead but as I have learned, you need to have a lightning quick hook. But since they are playing tomorrow, anybody he uses in this game is going to be effectively burned for the next game (fewer than 20 pitches to pitch with zero days rest) which can really limit him. Even when you learn to not save pitching, the urge to do so can overwhelm you in the moment so I get it.

That Curacao RF double clutched on the liner to right, the kid rounding 3rd would have scored easily if he'd just gone. Instead he hesitated, then doubled back, and ended up caught in a rundown. First failure of fundamentals I've seen from Louisiana.

It has to be said, I love listening to David Ross. Knowledgeable and funny.
The broadcast team for this event is pretty fantastic. I don't love Kyle Peterson but even he is decent in this context. And I Foudy is really good with the human-interest/"sideline" stuff.
