I believe the surgery was in Boston, just to make the "doubtful" status even more ridiculous.
How isn't this, at the very least, manipulation of the injury list? There's no way the Jets thinks this guy could play.

The Jets are a complete dumpster fire and no free agent in their right mind would sign there until they fire everyone in the front office, the coaching staff, and the medical staff.
I've been a fan of this team for 21 years now and it just astounds me the clown show that is this team. It doesn't matter who is in charge, they just consistently make the wrong decisions. Thought this new guy, Douglas, was supposed to be really good, so far I see the same old shit surrounding this team. Completely unbelievable.
It does matter who is in charge ... because who is in charge hasn't really changed.
Unless they like money.
Why, just a few days ago we were being told that no quality GM candidate would sign with the Red Sox since they fired the last two of them right after winning a World Series.
And possibly some lawsuits and reputational damage; I know how you like to be thorough.

So to get this straight, the Jets have traded and drafted Mo Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and now Leonard Williams? That's crazy, yo.
It’s crazy. The thing is for all of Gase’s questionable coaching, he seems to have got the shitty GM shitcanned and the new GM is trying to do the right things with the roster. The past drafts are sunk costs.
Douglas (gm) is allegedly trying to do a lot of trades. We’ll see what happens. It’s weird that someone seems like they have a plan.
Just sit him for the season. They're a bad team, just rest up and come back healthy next year when they might have a better chance of winning some games
I don’t think so, they still need Sam to try and get better and he will have some teams to do it against. They aren’t going to make any win now type moves. It becomes semantics as to what you mean by tanking. Brad Stevens never tanked but Danny Ainge kept fucking with his roster in a way that made it almost impossible to win.
I don't think it matters if they actually are tanking since they are doomed from the top.
The Dolphins at least have swapped Gase for Flores. I'm not sure how good Flores can be, but Gase is a total fraud. Flores has yet to foster a culture where football operations tells the nerds on their medical staff to step aside. Football operations knows when injured players can return to the field.
Gase may or may not suck, the jury is out. Todd Bowles did not suck. All these guys are doomed from the top. The top is ownership. The GM was a disaster for years and the owners did squat because they liked him.
Gase got the GM fired (allegedly) that means I will give him some rope for doing me that favor.
Bowles sucked if you listen to that Pepper Johnson interview that SJH was linking around. It certainly affected my (previously rather high) opinion of Bowles.
Why? Brad was trying to win. Gase is going to try to win. Brad being better than Gase doesn’t change the underlying intent.
Danny did not care about winning and actively wanted to lose. The Jets GM doesn’t do press but is selling, I don’t think he is selling to tank. But he does not care about this year.
The Jets are a clown show operation right now and they have been so for years. Sorry about that, I'm not trying to be a douche or cut them down, it's just a bad team. The Celtics won a playoff round last year and won two playoff rounds the year before. The Celtics had a good season last year, even if it was worse than expected.
The Jets have been woeful and worse than expected for almost a decade now. It's not a fair comparison.
Brad has won, by the way. The Jets, Gase, Bowles. . . .have not.
I’m well aware of the Celtics record as I have watched almost every game Brad has ever coached for them.
They were 25-57 his first year and Danny shipped away players because even that was too good for what Danny was trying to do.
That was the one and only time in Brad's tenure that they tried to bottom out, though. It worked, as they drafted the great Marcus Smart with the 6th overall pick. It's been nothing but winning ever since.
The cap is $188m and they're at $161 according to Sportrac so they look to have the space on top of the $30m in dead money they already have.
