The defence only gives up 13 points and the offense did juuuuuuust enough for a 14 points win.

Nitpick is for later. For now, it's Game Ball Time!

Lawrence Guy and Blake Mayfield
That turnover made it really uphill for the Brownies

Belichick ... put peanut butter on both slices of bread so the jelly doesn't seep through.

And of course, ghost extraordinaire Stephen Gilmour. Edelman on O

13 points against a talented offense.

Give the 13th cupcake to Freddie Kitchens-he needs some comfort food.

But give the game ball-Jamie Collins and the Boogeymen

Lawrence Guy. What are the chances he will ever get another INT?

Jamie Collins - 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks. His INT rate is going down but his influence on the opposition is not.

Coach BB. Doubt I ever see another coach hit 300 wins.

This. What a shitshow they are coaching wise and what a mistake to hire Kitchens as the HC. He’s awful. If they had a real coach that instills discipline they might have won this game.
Yep. I'm kicking myself for expecting the Browns to win the AFC North. Even that roster talent can't balance out the dysfunction that rolls downward from the top of that organization. Kitchens might very well have been the best coach that they could attract anyway, which should be damning enough on its own. Kitchens was completely overmatched, the deserved to be joked on by CBS for the 4th-and-11 to 4th-and-16 debacle, nevermind that inexcusably stupid challenge on the OPI call.

Anyway, my game balls:

Edelman
J. Jones
Jamie Collins

Is BB, SB and JM the new hydra?
Watching the announcers spend way too much time trying to figure out who was calling defensive plays was a lot of fun.

Honorable mention to McDaniels. Some good calls on the screens to open up a close game in the third quarter. He did the same thing in the Giants game, putting in a couple new formations to start the third quarter and bring Jakob Johnson into fullback position from exotic looking passing formations. Just really good halftime work.

Sanu said Slater's postgame speech was the best he has ever heard. He said he was ready to go play another game. Then he said he was told Slater does that every week.

I think Cleveland's talent is overrated. Sure, they have stars, but what about the rest of the roster? They are built basically diametrically opposite the way the Patriots are.

As for Kitchens ... they definitely had other options. Arians was begging to go there. They zeroed in on Kitchens and (similarly unqualified) Kevin Stefanski; IMO, this is because they wanted a weak hire who wouldn't threaten Dorsey's authority. It's the same reason Sashi Brown didn't hire a real personnel guy. Everyone who works in that organization (rightly) fears Haslam meddling, so the easiest way to retain authority is to intentionally hire weak people who won't threaten your power.

I'd disagree, seemed like the rest of the roster played pretty well. Their line opened up huge holes for Chubb all day, and their D did a good job containing the Patriots offense. Mayfield impressed me, I thought he was pretty disciplined and he made some big time throws down the field. Got away with a bad one to Gilmore, but there weren't too many mistakes on his part The fumbles by Chubb were killers, Guys interception a great play on his part. Even after 3 first half turnovers and a scoop and score though, they were only down 7 in the 3rd. Coaching staff seemed out matched in terms of game management for sure.

It seemed to me on that long run by Chubb, pre-fumble, that the D suffered from a handful of players buying into the Boogeyman hype and going for knock-out blow forced fumbles, instead of playing more conservatively and wrapping up with form tackles.
