around the way
I’m not about to complain about McDaniels but I am legitimately curious why they can’t get him involved in passing game given their proclivity to run with him in the game.

I’m starting to think we have another Ridley type on our hands. Including playoffs, believe Michel now has 8 catches in 19 NFL games.
I'm confused about it also.

I'm also confused about why they ran it on first down like 8 times in a row (it seemed) at one point.

It seems that there's just only so much time in the day. Someone said yesterday that much of the practice time this week was spent on red zone. Josh et al. simply don't have unlimited time to work in other things, so we will sometimes see Michel into the brick wall multiple times.

There's nothing wrong with Michel. The line will get better. When JMC wants to get back to pounding the ball, they'll find a way to spend practice reps on it. It sure is frustrating now though.

And if Michel as receiver doesn't materialize soon, then maybe he just can't do it. I'm not ready to assume that yet

I don’t understand why, especially in the face of a struggling run game without Develin, the Patriots didn’t choose to run some of the regular run plays WITH JOHNSON OUT THERE doing what he’s meant to do, i.e., back up the FB position. Call the plays. Try it with him. What gives?

My thought going into the game was that they would use Bolden as a FB, as he is used to running straight into the DL/LB without making any attempt to get out of the way.

Through three games, Jamie Collins has six run-stuffs (tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage). To put that in perspective, Lawrence Guy led the Patriots each of the past two years with nine run-stuffs, including playoff games. So while Collins has made some loud, electric plays with two interceptions, 2.5 sacks, a QB hit, two drawn holds and a batted pass, don’t overlook the way he has gotten into the backfield against the run.

It was a fair catch. He just missed the ball.
I think this is a lie. I just watched the play again. He never waved for the fair catch, and he was trying to move forward upon catching it, which is part of the reason why he muffed it - that, and glancing at the gunners. If he had called a fair catch he wouldn't have had to take his eye off the ball to look at the gunners, because they couldn't have (legally) hit him.

Edit: watched it one more time and he does actually appear to have waved. What makes it weird is that it looks like he is positioning his body / feet in order to make a move after catching it.
